145. Interoperation Of Ada And Java In Distributed Systems Using ADEPT - Dec 97
Using ADEPT in Distributed Systems.
http://stsc.hill.af.mil/crossTalk/1997/12/adept.asp
Interoperation of Ada and Java
in Distributed Systems Using ADEPT
Anthony Gargaro, Computer Sciences Corporation
Gary Smith, Ronald J. Theriault, Richard A. Volz, and
Raymond Waldrop,
The Advanced Distributed Engineering and Programming Toolset was originally developed as a tool to build distributed systems using the GNAT Ada compiler. Based on this work, the interoperation of Ada and Java using distributed or remote objects is being explored as a means to capitalize on the complimentary advantages of the two languages to develop a new generation of distributed systems. he Ada community has welcomed the development of Ada 95 [1], with its enhanced object-oriented features and various annexes that extend its capabilities. In this article, we propose the ideas that the Ada community should focus on
  • Interoperability with components built in other languages.
  • Convenient, easy to use toolsets to compose distributed systems from heterogeneous language components.
The first suggestion is similar to the concepts on which the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) [2] is built. CORBA, however, has not specified the notion of toolsets for configuration. As an indication of the kind of capabilities that are possible and useful, we present a toolset to distribute the execution of Ada programs in accordance with the Distributed Systems Annex (Annex E), and describe work currently underway to extend this toolset to provide interoperability with the Java Remote Method Invocation (RMI) [3].

Jamud - java mud server
jamud.home
Hey ... ask siege if Jamud is dead, would you? It isn't. I have been extraordinarily busy with a project from work (that thing that pays me), and even my spare time is spent with that. Over the course of the next month and a half that project will finally come to fruition moving from development to production and I'll be able to return my brain to working on Jamud. I've learned a whole lot about JNDI and Servlets and XML and XSLT and XPath and all sorts of things I only had a passing knowledge of before, and I've got some crazy ideas in store :) That said, we now return you to your regularly scheduled web-page. Q: You know what this world needs?
A: Another Java MUD project. Humanity just can't get enough of 'em! Jamud is the answer! Well, it's an answer. Jamud is a MUD server framework written in Java (possibly 100% certifiable Java, I don't know) from the ground up with modularity in mind. With an expandable set of base classes, plugins, and a scripting framework full of languages to code in, Jamud just might one day be a viable resource for all you maniacs who want to go through the hassle of running a MUD. But in the meantime, you can follow along with the development of this ordeal from here. In the beginning , Jamud was intended as a very simplistic setup with an equally simplistic goal; emulate a DIKU

    • How do I get the line number where my parse error occurred? Look at how the Grammar for Java below does it. That's canonical. "Symbol recycling detected (fix your scanner)" help! Your lexer can't return the same object twice; see the CHANGELOG entry for 0.10j in the CUP distribution for more details. Why haven't there been any releases recently? Because CUP doesn't have any known bugs. Just "feature requests," and they get very low priority if a patch isn't included with your request.
