"The name of the song is called `Haddocks' Eyes.'" "Oh, that's the name of the song, is it?" Alice said trying to feel interested. "No, you don't understand," the Knight said, looking a little vexed. "That's what the name is called. The name really is `The Aged Aged Man.'" "Then I ought to have said `That's what the song is called'?" Alice corrected herself. "No, you oughtn't: that's quite another thing! The song is called `Ways and Means': but that's only what it's called, you know!" "Well, what is the song, then?" said Alice, who was by this time completely bewildered. "I was coming to that," the Knight said. "The song really is `A-sitting On A Gate': and the tune's my own invention."

    Learn how to program in C by studying the 13 chapters in order since topics are introduced in a logical sequence and build upon topics introduced in previous chapters. Material includes programming concepts, diagrams, source code for all example programs, and answers to all programming exercises. It is to the students benefit to examine the source code for the example programs, then compile and execute each program as it is studied. The diligent student will modify the example program in some way, then recompile and execute it to see if he understands the material studied for that program. This will provide the student with valuable experience using his compiler.

    HTML Client for Web Services using DHTML Behavior

    [2004-04-20] In this example we will access a Web Service created in C# from an HTML client. The client does not use .Net Framework directly and instead accesses the Web Service functionality using the DHTML behavior.
    What is an Assembly? (C#, .NET)

    [2004-03-10] An assembly is a file that is automatically generated by the compiler upon successful compilation of every .NET application. It can be either a Dynamic Link Library or an executable file. It is generated only once for an application and upon each subsequent compilation the assembly gets updated. The entire process will run in the background of your application; there is no need for you to learn deeply about assemblies. However, a basic knowledge about this topic will help you to understand the architecture behind a .NET application.

    The C/C++
    Download Site Hello, all programmers of the world! This is my shabby attempt to create a site to freely exchange C/C++ programs so that others can learn by example and possibly learn a thing or two. I am currently a college student and I know what it is like to learn something new about a language and have no idea what the professor is talking about, what the new thing even does, or have no idea how to implement the new syntax into any program. So, I thought it would be nice to have some sort of free exchange for all learners, mainly STUDENTS, to look at and analyze before sitting in front of a computer and trying to get a program to run without understanding the rules or procedure to implement any programming technique. For my site, I will try to have as many links as possible ( all working hopefully ) and the programs will be divided into categories for easier access to the coding technique you want to learn. All programs will be in a .ZIP format so having an unzipping program is a must, along with the file, I will try to have the code on the page either in a text format or in HTML ( txt is so much easier though ) and possibly an example of how the program would look if you ran the file on your computer. Finally, I am asking anyone who is interested to email me and submit the programs you have written for any C or C++ programming class. These programs could have been written in high school, junior college, a 4 year university or even in your spare time. These programs can be in any range of difficulty from beginner courses to courses involving data processing or even Object Oriented design. If you do become interested in submitting some programs for this site or just interested in helping please email me or check out the

    Abstract
    This paper describes a hypertext based system for teaching the C programming language. The course is presented using the Mosaic World Wide Web browser and differs from a conventional hypertext based course in that the material is individualised for each user. When a user first begins the course they follow a standard path and are asked, using HTML-based forms, a series of questions about their background and knowledge of programming. The answers to these questions then direct the system to present subsequent questions to explore the relevant knowledge more deeply. After this phase the main C course is entered but the user's view of the material is tailored according to the answers given in the initial phase. During the course the user is given tasks to test their knowledge of the material. This in turn tailors the later material. For example, poor solutions to tasks mean that sections of the course are repeated possibly with different examples. The system makes heavy use of the server's ability to execute a program to generate a hypertext object. A user modelling system maintains information about the student.

    C Programming Libraries
    I have developed an extensive library of C routines for the manipulation of protein structures. The routines are extensively documented within the code, but no separate documentation is currently available. The routines include reading and writing of PDB and CSSR files, rotation, translation, resequencing, calculations, fitting, adding hydrogens, ordering, sequence reading and alignment, etc., etc. In addition, I have a library of more general purpose C routines. These include error handling, 2D arrays, FORTRAN-style rigid column input, text manipulation, help file handling, HPGL and PostScript plotting, command parsing, etc. An HTML summary of all the routines is available here Include files for these are found in ~martin/include/bioplib (where the source is also stored) and the link libraries are in ~martin/lib.
