With no explanation, Leprechaun is suddenly in the distant future on a farflung planet, seducing Princess Zarina (Debbe Dunning, the "Tool Time" girl on TV's "Home Improvement"), whom he has kidnapped from the planet Daminian. Along comes a rocket loaded with space marines and a blonde biologist (Jessica Collins) to rescue the royal dame. Leprechaun gets blown to pieces but, back on the ship, regenerates himself through the penis of one of the dumber spacetroopers. And just when he thought it was safe to unzip. Now the screenplay by Dennis Pratt, who had to have been in an enlightened, heightened state of mind when he cranked this one out, really gets good: Dr. Mittenhand (Guy Siner) exists from the chest up only, the torso attached to a computer machine, and he orders his men to eliminate the destructive Leprechaun while he injects himself with Zarina's rejuvenating DNA. Unfortunately, since Leprechaun can work magical spells and keeps coming back to life each time he's eviscerated, nobody stands a chance, not even heroic Brent Jasmer. Finally through the DNA injection, the German doc gets turned into a giant spider (now you can call him Dr. Mittenspider).

Composed between 1742 and 1745 they are varied, tuneful, frequently contrapuntal, grand in the Handelian manner – and very baroque. Highly enjoyable and entertaining from start to finish. If you have heard them before, then you probably heard them in one of the versions for string orchestra – all six performed all on one sound and textural level as Six Concertos for Strings. The present recording takes a different approach. These concertos were entitled "For Strings and Continuo, or Keyboard and Continuo", and we took John Stanley at his word! In fact, when preparing the scores, conductor Leslie Jones found that some are more suited to Strings, some to Keyboard. In the end, conductor and producer settled on the following: two concertos as Organ with strings, two as Harpsichord with strings, and two for Strings, one with harpsichord continuo, the other with organ continuo.

Between 1834 and 1842 he lived and traveled in the Midwest, including Detroit, Chicago, Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Fort Snelling, Minnesota, earning his living as a sign and portrait painter. In spring 1843 Stanley accompanied the party of Indian agent Pierce M. Butler to the Tehuacana Creek Council qv qv among others. In September 1843 Stanley attended a grand Indian council at Tahlequah in present-day Oklahoma. There he painted the portraits of Chisholm, Shaw, and a number of Cherokee chiefs, including Chief John Ross. In fall 1843 Stanley attended the council with the Waco, Wichita, Comanche, Shawnee, and other Indians, which convened on the headwaters of the Red River in what is now southwestern Oklahoma. At Butler's request, Stanley made badges to designate the various tribes, which greatly pleased the Indians. He also painted Comanche Indians in their native environment. Stanley exhibited the portraits and landscapes in Cincinnati, but soon traveled the Santa Fe Trail qv qv in Orange, Texas, the Detroit Institute of Arts, the Phoenix Art Museum, the Smithsonian Institution, and the Denver Public Library. Prints made from his paintings also appear in the Emory and Stevens reports.
