wschuman@mwe.com BIOGRAPHY Mr. Schuman has extensive experience in admiralty litigation. He was one of the lead counsel representing the ship owner in , where admiralty jurisdiction was upheld in the United States Supreme Court in 1995. He also has significant experience in constitutional law. In 1985, he won an Illinois Supreme Court decision in Sanelli v. Glenview State Bank , widely regarded as seminal in the area of separation of powers doctrine. In 1993, he won an important constitutional decision in the Illinois Appellate Court, on due process grounds, in ChemRex Inc. v. Illinois Pollution Control Board In addition, Mr. Schuman has extensive experience in analyzing insurance coverage issues in professional malpractice, environmental damage and product liability matters. He has also counseled large and medium-sized corporations and closely held businesses in connection with the preservation of confidential and proprietary information and trade secret-related assets. Mr. Schuman has handled litigation in the federal and state courts in California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Mississippi, Michigan, Minnesota, North Carolina, Ohio, South Dakota, Texas and Wisconsin. He is a member of the bars of the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, the U.S. District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois (trial bar) and the Central District of Illinois, and the Supreme Court of Illinois. He is a member of the American, Illinois State and Chicago bar associations. | |
