Home Page Die Biographie von Manuel De Falla Spanischer Komponist: in Cadiz geboren, verbrachte Falla Kindheit und Jugend in einem Spanien, wo es kaum ein Musikleben gab. Ein Studium in Paris lag jedoch außerhalb seiner finanziellen Möglichkeiten. Er versuchte, sich mit der Komposition von Zarzuelas (einer damals und heute in Spanien beliebten Form von Operetten) über Wasser zu halten, doch hatte er damit keinen Erfolg. Er ging nach Madrid, um bei Pedrell zu studieren, der ihm den Rat gab, seine Musik auf folkloristischen Grundlagen aufzubauen: Falla beherzigte diesen Rat, aber nicht im buchstäblichen Sinn. Er schrieb vielmehr eine Musik, die von Leben erfüllt war und von den Rhythmen und der Seele der spanischen Musik, ohne sich aber sklavisch an bestimmte Volksmelodien anzulehnen. In Madrid komponierte er die Oper La Vida breve (1913), die zwar von der Akademie der Schönen Künste prämiert wurde, aber keine Aufführung erfuhr. Später beteiligte er sich an einem Klavierwettbewerb, den er zu seiner Überraschung gewann.

Las obras de Manuel de Falla Desarrolló un estilo claramente nacionalista que caracterizó prácticamente todas sus composiciones. No obstante, no solía utilizar las canciones folclóricas españolas de una manera directa en sus temas, sino que incorporaba únicamente su espíritu. El elemento impresionista de su obra procede de compositores franceses como Claude Debussy y Maurice Ravel , a quienes conoció en París. Falla era contrario a la influencia de la música alemana e italiana en la ópera española. Sus primeros estudios musicales los realiza en el ambiente familiar con su madre y con Eloísa Galluzo y posteriormente, pero también en dicha ciudad, con Alejandro Odero y Enrique Broca . Su obra de esta época no deja de evocar a Grieg . En se traslada a Madrid , para estudiar en su conservatorio con Felipe Pedrell y José Tragó . Pedrell le enseña a sondear en la tradición española desde una nueva perspectiva. Falla aporta a esa búsqueda una perspectiva stravinskyana. Durante esta época la familia Falla pasa no pocas penurias económicas, que obliga al compositor a escribir una serie de zarzuelas que, aunque de poco éxito, le reportaron algún dinero. En su Allegro de Concerto le supone su primer premio musical. Pero su momento le llegó con la consecución en del primer premio de la Academia de Bellas Artes con La vida breve , la inoperancia de la vida musical española impidió que la obra se estrenara, como estaba estipulado en las bases, en el Teatro Real de Madrid. Precisamente este agravio quedó resuelto 92 años después cuando el 11 de octubre de 1997 la obra servía para la reapertura de la suntuoso y conflictivo teatro madrileño.

Manuel de Falla Life Works Best Works Operas ... Home Page Manuel de Falla Life The music of Spain has exercised an exotic fascination, but often in forms adapted by foreign composers. Manuel de Falla is representative of a group of Spanish composers who won international recognition. He was born in 1876 in Cádiz, where he first studied, moving later to Madrid and then to Paris, but returning to Madrid when war broke out in 1914. Strongly influenced by the traditional Andalusian cante jondo, he settled in Granada, where his friends included the poet Federico Garcia Lorca. The Civil War of 1936 found de Falla neutral in the struggle, but in 1939 he moved to Buenos Aires, where he continued work on his ambitious stage-work Atlántida, which remained unfinished at the time of his death in 1946. Manuel de Falla Works Manuel de Falla helped to support his family in Madrid, after a change in their fortunes, by composing zarzuelas, typically Spanish musical comedies. His first substantial stage work was the lyric drama La vida breve, completed in 1905 and first staged in Nice in 1913. The ballet El amor brujo (Love the Magician), with its ghostly story of gypsy jealousy, was first staged in Madrid two years later.
