Fitzgerald (Photographer) Between turkey and pie, over Thankgiving weekend, I thumbed through my parent's autographed copy of this new book and I was taken aback. As a fan of photography and a student of Cherokee history I found it very interesting. David G. Fitzgerald's photography is excellent and Robert Conley's history is, no surprise here, terrific. Overall, the book offers great scope and coverage, an excellent portrait of the Cherokee people, past and present. In Cherokee , Conley and Fitzgerald have combined their talents for writing and photography (respectively) into a terrific pictoral history of the Cherokees from East to West and from past to present. The book also features an introductory statement by Principle Chief Chad Smith. IInvestigation of Specific and Efficient Preparations of Tetrafluoroaluminate (AlF Brandon Conley , David A. Atwood. Department of Chemistry, University of Kentucky The tetrafluoroaluminate (AlF ) anion has been shown by numerous studies to act as an analog for the phosphate group in biochemical reaction systems, especially with regard to G proteins. The customary method of preparation of AlF for biochemical studies is a combination of NaF and AlCl ; this procedure, however, has been shown to result not in AlF specifically, but rather in a complex mixture of aluminum fluorides, hydroxides, and fluoro-hydroxides. The presence of these co-products could have an unforeseen effect upon the studies conducted with AlF , and presents researchers with an unacceptable number of variables. This has led to the research to be presented, wherein various methods of preparation, both published and novel, have been investigated, along with the analysis and characterization of their respective products.

Jerry Conley's Genealogy Site HENRY CONNELLY, JR. , son of HENRY CONNELLY and ANN MacGREGOR , was born December 1, 1787 in Guilford County, North Carolina, and died September 8, 1859 in Fennimore, Grant County, Wisconsin. He married SARAH PHILLIPS August 20, 1810 in Clay County, Kentucky. She was born August 16, 1791 in Georgia. Note: The spelling in this generation varied from Connelly, Conley and Connely. Notes for Henry and Sarah: Henry and Sarah lived in Floyd County, Kentucky, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains near Henry's father and other family members, for most of their early lives. Henry served in the Army during the War of 1812 from November 10, 1814 until May 10, 1815. He served as a Private in a Company of Kentucky Militia commanded by Captain L. P. Higdon. Sarah was later granted a pension of eight dollars a month because of his service. According to Sarah, they were married by a Baptist minister named Spencer Adams, although no official record of the marriage was ever found. Henry's father, Captain Henry Connelly, died in 1840 and in March or April of 1844, Henry, Sarah and their four youngest children moved "out west" to Wisconsin. Upon arrival in the Wisconsin Territory - Wisconsin wasn't a state until 1848 - Henry filed his claim to 40 acres in the Southwestern part of the Territory. On January 22, 1848 he bought a joining 40 acres from Francis Lewis McKensie for the sum of fifty dollars. The farm was located just across the street from the Jacob Borah Cemetery where Henry and Sarah are both buried. Many legal documents concerning the Connellys - his gravestone says "Connely" - are recorded in the Grant County Court House.

After finishing high school in Wichita Falls, TX, he attended college there at Midwestern University where he received his bachelor's degree in drama in 1966 and his master's in English in 1968. He has been Asst. Programs manager for the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma, Director of Indian Studies at Eastern Montana College, Bacone College in Muskogee and at Morningside College in Sioux City. Robert has also been an Associate Professor of English at Morningside College and an Instructor of English at Southwest Missouri State University and at Northern Illinois University. His poems and short stories have been published in numerous periodicals and anthologies over the years, including some in Germany, France, Belgium, New Zealand, and Yugoslavia. His poems have been published in English, Cherokee, German, French and Macedonian versions. Robert's most unusual publication may be the poem, Some Lines in Commemeration of this site: Little Maquoketa River Mounds, May 15, 1981.
