ADLER, Hugo Chaim- dedicates and signs 3 page printed copy of V'shomru 1V a Cantorial mood by Hugo Ch. Adler. Adler (1894-1955) was one of the most important German Reform cantors officiating as the Oberkantor of Mannheim's liberal synagogue and composing much liturgical music still in use worldwide. In 1927 he founded the World Jewish Music Center in Jerusalem. During the early Nazi years he also ran the Kulturbund in Mannheim. He came to the USA in 1939 and was Cantor and Music Director of Temple Emanu-el in Worcester, Mass from 1939 -1955. An interesting aside he and his family owned and lived in the home of Constanza Mozart in Mannheim. Extremely scarce bit of cantorial memorabilia

The Greek composer (1883-1962) was the leading force of Greek nationalism in music using Greek folk song material and Greek subjects. He was Vienna trained at the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde Wien (1901-1906)- his music has a Wagnerian influence imposed on a Russian style of composing and instrumentation.
