Diccionario de la Música Clàssica Languages Pierre Boulez (n. 1925) Vida Obras principales Photo Gallery Home Page La vida de Pierre Boulez Nace en 1925, en Montbrison (Francia). Estudió con Messiaen en el Conservatorio de París y con Andrée Vaurabourg y René Leibowitz. Desde 1946 y durante diez años es director de la música de escena para la compañía Renaud-Barrault. Bajo los auspicios de Barrault organizó una serie de conciertos, el Domaine Musical, que sirvieron de plataforma para la difusión de la música contemporánea. En 1969 asume la dirección de la BBC Symphony Orchestra y en 1971 de la New York Philharmonic Orchestra. Desde 1975 Boulez se ha concentrado en su trabajo como director del Institut de Recherche et Coordination Acoustique/Musique, un estudio de computadoras en París donde su obra principal ha sido Répons para orquesta y equipamiento digital. En sus dos primeras sonatas para piano (1946, 1948) y el Livre pour quatuor para cuarteto de cuerda (1949) se ve la influencia Messiaen y la tradición de Schönberg.

März 1925 in Paris geboren. Er studierte bei Oliver Messiaen in Paris. Während des 2. Weltkrieges war der Unterricht in serieller Musik am Konservatorium von der Nazi-Besatzungsmacht verboten; nach 1945 beschäftigte Boulez sich intensiv mit der Musik Schönbergs und seiner Schule. Giuseppe Sinopoli er da oplagt at komme i tanke om, så at kalde Pierre Boulez “Uomtvisteligt den største når det gælder det 20. århundredes orkestermusik”, må i bedste fald være en erindringsforskydelse. Allí es discípulo de Oliver Messiaen y Leibowitz , siendo este último el que lo introduce a la música dodecafónica mientras estudia privadamente con Andrée Vaurabourg Pierre Boulez ha expandido su carrera musical en tres vías: compositor, director de orquesta y pedagogo. En la faceta compositiva su obra se ha visto decididamente influída por A. Schönberg e I. Stravinsky , y en particular por Sacre du printemps y Noces del segundo. Al igual que ellos, Boulez ha buscado nuevos caminos para engrandecer el vocabulario musical en pleno sentido con la libertad y expansión -siguiendo las directrices de Stravinsky-, pero al mismo tiempo, como él mismo ha señalado en multitud de ocasiones, sometido a una cierta disciplina, retomando la idea de lo funcional, analítico y estructural de Schönberg. To his small but powerful group of defenders, he is viewed as a stunning conductor, as one of the great intellectual advocates of musical modernism, as a genius who has produced refined atonal masterpieces such as Le Marteau sans Maitre and Pli Selon Pli. It is the second view that BBC licence-payers will be underwriting for the Boulez 2000 festival to celebrate his 75th birthday. There are some similarities between the history of communism and the modernism of Boulez. He was 20 in 1945. If his musical hero at that time was the radical composer Schoenberg, his intellectual lineage can be traced back to Marx-not political Marxism, but the Marxist view of historical inevitability that culminates, in the case of music, in atonality. The communists of the early 20th century were idealists fighting with integrity for the freedom of the masses. During the same period, the first atonal pieces of music by Schoenberg were written with similar revolutionary zeal to escape the tyranny oftonality. Just as communists called for social equality, so atonalism developed into serialism, with its theory of equality between all 12 notes in an octave.
