LUIGI BOCCHERINI BOCCHERINI, LUIGI (1743-1805), Italian composer, son of an Italian bass-player, was born at Lucca, and studied at Rome, where he became a fine cellist, and soon began to compose. He returned to Lucca, where for some years he was prominent as a player, and there he produced two oratorios and an opera. He toured in Europe, and in 1768 was received in Paris by Gossec and his circle with great enthusiasm, his instrumental pieces being highly applauded; and from 1769 to 1785 he held the post of composer and virtuoso to the king of Spains brother, the infante Luis, at Madrid. He afterwards became chambercomposer to King Frederick William II. of Prussia, till 1797, when he returned to Spain. He died at Madrid on the 28th of May 1805. Luigi Boccherini Life Works Operas Photo Gallery ... Home Page Luigi Boccherini Life Luigi Boccherini was born in Lucca, Italia, on 19 February 1743. He was taught music at a young age by his father, who was a professional bass player. Also, he was taught by the Abbé Vannucci, chapel-master to the Archbishop. Boccherini proved to be an extremely skilled pupil, and in 1757 he was sent to Roma to perfect his technique under expert instruction. He returned to Lucca as a professional musician of the highest order, and he joined the town theatre orchestra as violoncellist. At the same time, he introduced himself to his fellow citizens as a composer by giving a special concert - with the cooperation of Filippo Manfredi, the violinist - devoted entirely to his own sonatas. The success of this concert was so great that the two decided to tour the principle cities of France. Their reception at all their destinations surpassed their wildest expectations, including Paris, which they reached in 1768. The fame of the two had become so large that the Ambassador of España in Paris invited them to come to Madrid. They were disappointed by this tour because their reception was not half so welcoming as they had anticipated, and royal patronage, which had been promised to them, was not forthcoming.

Komponisten Luigi Boccherini Biographie Die Werke Photo Gallery Home Page Die Biographie von Luigi Boccherini Italienischer Komponist, Boccherini, aus Lucca in der Toskana gebürtig, ist heute einem breiten Musikpublikum durch ein einfaches Menuett aus einem seiner Streichquintette bekannt - also durch einen winzigen Bruchteil aus Hunderten von Instrumentalstücken, die er komponiert hat. Er war ein begabter Cellist und ein Komponist von ausgeprägter Originalität. Als er 25 Jahre alt war, rissen sich die Pariser Verleger um seine Werke, und der spanische Botschafter überredete ihn, nach Madrid zu übersiedeln. Hier war Boccherini zunächst Kammervirtuose des Infanten Luis und später Kapellmeister der Herzogin von Benavente. Danach wurde Friedrich der Große sein Gönner, stellte aber die Bedingung, daß Boccherini künftig nur noch für ihn komponiere. Als Friedrich 1786 starb, ernannte sein Nachfolger, Friedrich Wilhelm II. von Preußen, Boccherini zum Hofkompositeur, eine Stelle, für die er bis 1797 bezahlt wurde. In Madrid, wohin Boccherini zurückkehrte, war damals Lucien, der Bruder Napoleons, Botschafter der französischen Republik.

Diccionario de la Música Clàssica Languages Luigi Boccherini Vida Obras Photo Gallery Home Page La vida de Luigi Boccherini Nacido en Lucca (Italia) el 19 de febrero de 1743 en el seno de una familia de larga tradición musical, siendo su padre, Leopold Boccherini, violonchelista, comienza con este a estudiar música. Más tarde amplia sus conocimientos del violonchelo y de la composición con Francesco Vannucci, maestro de capilla de Lucca, y en 1756 debuta como violonchelista en su ciudad natal. En 1757 se traslada a Roma para estudiar con Giovanni Costanzi, maestro de capilla de San Pedro. En este período comienza a editar sus obras. Un nuevo traslado, esta vez a Milán, colocan a Boccherini en la tesitura perfecta para formar parte del primer cuarteto de cuerda de la historia de la música (1765) junto con Nardini, Manfredi y Cambini. Y precisamente acompañado de Manfredi, comenzó en 1766 Boccherini una gira de conciertos por diversas ciudades europeas. Un año después, en París, es patrocinado por el Barón Bagge, lo que le supone poder imprimir sus mejores obras. Invitado por el embajador español en París en 1768 se traslada a Madrid, y rápidamente (1770) es nombrado compositor y músico de la corte del Infante Don Luis.

Februar 1743 in Lucca geboren und starb am 28. Mai 1805 in Madrid. Boccherini wurde bereits mit 14 Jahren Cellist am Hoftheater in Wien. 1761 kehrte er nach Lucca zurück, wo er erster Cellist der Kapelle der Republik von Lucca wurde. Ab 1765 gab er zusammen mit dem Geiger F. Manfredi Konzerte in Norditalien; 1767 gingen sie nach Paris, wo Boccherinis erste Werke publiziert wurden. 1770 ernannte man Boccherini zum Kammerkomponisten des spanischen Infanten Don Luis, später wurde er Kapellmeister der Herzogin von Benavente. Ab 1785 bezog er eine 'Pension' vom König Karl III. und 1787 ernannte ihn König Friedrich Wilhelm II. zum Kammerkomponisten und setzte ihm eine Pension aus. So schrieb Boccherini, obwohl er in Madrid blieb, für etwa 10 Jahre vor allem Musik für den preußischen König. Beim Tod des Herrschers wurde seine Pension widerrufen, und er mußte seine letzten Lebensjahre mit der durch die Inflation entwerteten Pension des Königs von Spanien leben.
