Amy Marcy Cheney Beach (Mrs. H.H.A. Beach) (1867-1944) was born in New Hampshire. Musically precocious, she sang improvised harmony parts at age two, composed at age four, and began piano studies with her mother, Clara Imogene Marcy Cheney, at age six, giving her first public recitals at seven. In 1875 the Cheney family moved to Boston, where Amy studied piano, harmony, counterpoint, an composition. In 1885 she made her piano debut with the Boston Symphony. That smae year she married Dr. Henry beach, a socially prominent doctor, Harvard professor, and musical amateur. In accordance with his wishes, she limited her public appearances and concentrated on composition until after his death in 1910. In 1911 she traveled to Germany, where she toured as a virtuoso pianist, playing and accompanying her own works to critical acclaim. In 1914 she returned to the United States, where she maintained an active schedule of winter touring and summer composing for many years. Mrs. Beach compsed works in many genres, including a Mass, a symphony, a piano concerto, and works for chamber ensembles, piano, mixed chorus, and solo voice. Her thirty works for women's chorus, including several cantatas, are well-crafted in a romantic idiom, always with intelligent text setting. The Year's at the Spring was sung by the Bennett College Glee Club in 1934 and 1935, under the direction of Marylou Jackson.

Amy Beach Born 5 September 1867, Henniker, New Hampshire.
Died 27 December 1944, New York City. In the 25 years of her marriage until her husband's death in 1910, Beach tried to limit her public appearances to an annual piano recital and the premieres of her own works. Meanwhile she profited from her leisure to absorb the vast repertoire of the European late-Romantic period, putting what she had taught herself to work in compositions of ever increasing ambition and sophistication. This was the period of her best large-scale work: the Gaelic Symphony (1894), Violin Sonata (1896), and Piano Concerto (1899). The Boston Symphony Orchestra gave the first performances of the symphony and, with Beach as piano soloist, the concerto. Quite apart from the intrinsic merit of the works, which is substantial, both premieres were historic for the annals of women in music. Works Orchestra

Because of this, she focused on composition. After his death in 1910, she resumed her concert career in Europe and in this country.

He then goes on to tell Chris that he doesn’t need to stay at the party for long and he tells Sonic he can give him swimming lessons, Sonic disagrees and takes off. Amy tells him he won’t go with them because he hates water so much, Tails replies that Sonic can go running on the beach and Amy is sad that Sonic won’t be there. Amy was born to Pete and Helene on September 12, 1970, in Fairfax, VA. After growing up in Arlington, VA for a few years, the family moved to Germany for three and a half years, and then back again. Around that time, Amy began the journey to being a full fledged musician, moving from singing and playing the recorder in Germany, to studying the flute and playing in the school orchestra. She began acting and taking voice lessons in high school, and graduated from Herndon High School in Herndon, VA. Amy went to Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, VA with the plan of majoring in Communications, but when she realized that she was singing and dancing her way through school, she graduated with a degree in Music Education and Vocal Performance instead! She now splits her time between working at MENC: The National Association for Music Education , teaching voice lessons, taking voice lessons and piano lessons, singing solo and with groups, and whatever else comes along...such as...

He grew up to be quite the athlete, playing baseball and football, water skiing, mountain biking, dirt biking, and pretty much anything you can think of! But, he has his artistic side, and enjoys photography, sketching, wood working, and carpentry (handy around the house!). And, Amy has seen a picture of him in his pyjamas on Christmas morning playing the guitar, mouth wide open singing, and heard rumor of his playing percussion in the school band, so he's multi-talented! ;-) He focused on football, though, and played all through his high school years at Henry Clay High School in Lexington. Bryan attended the University of KY, with thoughts of being a Business major, but also had a change of heart, and earned a degree in Geography. A few years after graduating, he moved up to the Washington, DC area to take a job with the Department of Defense...which leads us to...

Question
The SB episodes where I live are very far behind those in the States. I am soo excited about what`s going to happen with Sean and Emily. Could you please tell me if Amy gets her rotten claws into Sean in the end? I have seen Amy and Sean sleeping together and her telling Sean not to tell Emily. The last episode I`ve seen ended with Sean entering Amy`s room; finding out that she`s moving. Just another rotten trick Amy and Brad are doing to him! Bah! And what about Emily and Brad? It`s obvious that Brad likes her. But I really think that Amy and Brad deserves nothing but each other. Could you please help me out? I`ve heard you`re the best SB expert ever :)

Amy Beach. Amy Marcy Beach (September 5, 1867 - December 27, 1944), was a American pianist and composer of classical music. She was the first successful female American composer. Many of her composition and performances were under the name Mrs. H.H.A. Beach.
She was born Amy Marcy Cheney in Henniker, New Hampshire. She made her professional debut in Boston in 1883 and shortly thereafter appeared as a soloist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Following her marriage in 1885 to Dr. Henry H.A. Beach, a Boston surgeon, however, she largely stopped performing and devoted herself instead to composition. After her husband died in 1910, she toured Europe as a pianist, playing her own compositions. She returned to America in 1914, where she spent time at the MacDowell Colony in Peterborough, New Hampshire. She died in New York City.
Her compositions include the Gaelic Symphony (1893), the Mass in E flat, a piano concerto, a quantity of choral music, chamber music, and piano music, and the opera Cabildo (1932). She was most popular, however, for her songs.

Amy Beach (1867-1944)
Born Amy Cheney in New Hampshire in 1867, the young girl who would later become Amy Beach was born into a musical family: her mother was a singer and pianist before her marriage. Little Amy was composing short piano pieces and playing by ear, all by the age of four, encouraged by her mother with piano lessons. Her public debut came at seven in a church concert. Amy's family moved to Boston, and she took piano lessons, as well as harmony lessons (the only training she would ever have in music theory). At the age of 16, she debuted with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and published her first song (a setting of "The Rainy Day: by Longfellow), which she had written at 13. In 1885 (at 18), she married Dr. Henry Harris Aubrey Beach, who was much older than herself. After her marriage, she stopped performing for the most part, but continued to compose, under the name Mrs. H. H. A. Beach.
