After Brittany's horrific accident, life has taken a dramatic turn. Left with a scarred face, Brittany tries to pick up the pieces of her life and career. CBS.com sat down with LAUREN WOODLAND to talk about Brittany's electrocution and how it's changed her life.
CBS.com: Going back in time a little to the electrocution that scene was so well done. What did you think of it all?
LAUREN WOODLAND: It was beautifully edited and shot and directed.
CBS.com: Sometimes scenes that involve such physicality can be unrealistic. But you did an amazing job.
LAUREN WOODLAND: Thank you. I really have [enjoyed it]. They've given me an opportunity to play emotions that I've never been able to do in my other storylines and it's challenged me quite a bit because it's been all-encompassing the dancing and the singing and the physicality of being electrocuted and then dealing with what it's like to be scarred and how that changes your life and how it changes other people's lives. It's just so all-encompassing and very challenging and I love challenges.

Go west young gays
BY DENISE BENSON
It's official: the west end is Toronto's new queer Mecca. Though this proclamation currently being made with great vim and vigour in straight and gay media alike may amuse or annoy the thousands of us who've long lived and socialized primarily in the west end of town, it is worth exploring. And contextualizing. Recording a history of any community's nightlife is difficult at best. The culture changes as frequently as the faces involved in it. That said, we would be remiss to see the west end as a trendy new playground for us queer folks. It's long been that. When I came out in the late '80s, most of the nightlife I was interested in whether explicitly queer or wonderfully ambiguous took place on Queen West. Artists like Fifth Column, Beverly Bratty and The Nancy Sinatras brought us to venues including The Cameron House, Rivoli and Cabana Room. Loads of west-end dance clubs from "alternative" bars like The Silver Crown to the beat-fuelled Twilight Zone were thoroughly mixed and absolutely gay-friendly. This continued through the '90s, with queer DJs and promoters choosing venues well outside of the gay village (i.e., Church and Wellesley). There are so many examples: my Dyke Nites at The Caribou, Claremont and Boom Boom Room, and super-mixed Bent weekly at Catch 22; the hedonistic Go Go Men; the jam-packed women's Thursdays at Zoo Bar; the Bovine's rowdy mix; and many more.

Wednesday January 24th, 2001 The Mighty Angus Young Interview and photos by Lisa Sharken Angus Young is perhaps one of the world’s most underrated guitarists whose style is frequently imitated, but never duplicated. Since 1973, Young has been bludgeoning an SG as the lead guitarist with legendary rockers AC/DC . Catchy blues-influenced riffs played with a crushing guitar tone and blistering lead hooks are what make the group’s sound so easily identifiable. On the group’s recent release, Stiff Upper Lip (Elektra/Asylum), Young carries on in the brutal and ballsy AC/DC tradition that has driven the group since its early days. To honor Young’s loyalty to the SG model, Gibson recently introduced the Angus Young Signature SG , a faithful reproduction of the artist’s original trademark axe. Designed and manufactured to Angus' exacting specifications, this new SG features an engraved lyre vibrola, an Angus Signature treble pickup along with a ’57 Classic rhythm pickup , a "Devil" peghead decal and comes with a special Angus Young Signature SG hardshell case.

Good Die Young
The D12 song from the D12 World album “Good Die Young”, which is dedicated to D12’s deceased member Bugz sounds like a prayer and also like a big complaint.
When dramas happen in our lives, we often feel so weak and so useless. Sometimes we also do reproach ourselves what happened. But we should certainly take into account that we don’t master such events which are totally independant from our will.
Accidents that happen like the tragic death of our beloves ones teach us a lesson about the fragility of life. That’s why we should try to enjoy life as much as possible, particularly when we’re young. We should try to be happy and satisfied instead of wasting our time on useless problems. Each day should be lived up as the last one.
The way the D12 members mention tragical circumstances in the song is quite philosophical. It teaches people how hard it is to survive in the ghetto. Kon Artis shares his double struggle with us, how he had to fight to survive and to succeed for his family:

That's MY Dad! Ever Wish You Could Control Your Dreams? Arrest Us for What? Wearing Big Pants? Monologues In any formal Theatre class you eventually want your students to perform monologues. There are about a million books out there containing monologues for student actors, but I have yet to find one I though was much good. (The ones that contain monologues cut from plays, as opposed to original monologues are certainly better, but there really aren't all that many plays being written these days with good youth characters. Plus a lot of the time, contemporary plays have language or subject matter that won't fly in most schools.) Consequently, about once a year I get frustrated and write some of my own. I have used the following monologues with my Middle School acting students with great success. I think they would also work in High School, or even with advanced late Elementary actors. Please feel free to use any of these monologues with your students. Please let me know if they work for you. (PLEASE, if you re-post my monologues, be sure to give me credit for them. Thanks.) That's MY Dad!

INTERVIEW: Go West, Young Man! (West Beirut, that is) The Travels of Ziad Doueiri by Anthony Kaufman First films are never easy. Sure, getting financing is nearly impossible and don't even mention distribution but what about just getting the guts to direct in the first place? Forget your day job, throw caution to the wind and make a movie that costs at least three times more than your annual salary? For Ziad Doueiri, the Lebanese-born, LA-based director of " West Beirut ," a stirring coming-of-age set during Lebanon's civil war in 1975, he's still asking himself that very question. Born in Lebanon in 1963, Doueiri spent his adolescence riding scooters and avoiding bombs until 1983, when his family left the war-torn country to come to the US. Doueiri studied film at the University of San Diego and UCLA, and soon found himself, quite by accident, working as 1st assistant cameraperson on Quentin Tarantino's "

Go West, Young Men
All for the love of Pinot: Three Austinites make serious waves in the world of wine
BY WES MARSHALL This is a story about three Austin men, all three in love with wine. Each took a separate path and arrived at a different destination. They were willing to take a chance, leave their comfortable existences, and risk whatever money they had to follow a dream. It's also a story of family support, and good guys finishing first. They were attracted to one of the world's cruelest mistresses. That mistress is a grape, but not just any grape. It's a mean-spirited, cantankerous grape that will languish in the lousy-to-awful range unless you have just the right weather, the right land, the right workers, and a kiss from God. When everything falls in line, it is also the most magical and alluring of all grapes: Pinot Noir. There's an old saying that serious wine lovers always end up slaves to the Pinot Noir grape. Like your first experience with a passionate lover, a great Pinot can leave you yearning for another encounter immediately after your last and lead you on an unending search to re-create the experience. Two things make matters impossibly worse: The wine made from Pinot Noir can be some of the most expensive on Earth, and it is a notoriously difficult wine to follow. There are seldom two good vintages in a row, and there are so many small producers that having a good knowledge of the field is a full-time job. Still, Pinot lovers won't be deterred.

Young Life, which began in 1941, is a non-profit organization committed to making an impact on kids' lives and preparing them for the future. Young Life leaders leave the comfort of their adult worlds and enter the arena of high school and middle school life. You will find Young Life leaders sitting in the stands at football games, walking the streets of inner-city neighborhoods, driving carloads of kids to the shopping malls or tutoring students in study centers after school. In fact, you will find them almost anywhere you can find kids. Young Life leaders model trust, respect and responsibility to their young friends, and they do it within a meaningful context, within the context of a teenager's world. Young Life provides healthy, creative fun and aims to keep kids safe . From weekly clubs to seasonal camping experiences to daily outings with leaders, Young Life is known around the world as the organization that knows how to have fun.
Club typically meets once a week and has been described as an experience in "controlled chaos." Leaders combine songs, humor and group interaction to create an hour of energetic fun where kids can express that teenage tendency to push the limits but within the controlled context of a safe environment.
