http://www.ips.it/cinethes/welles.html
DESTINAZIONE CINEMA Il 10 ottobre 1985 moriva Orson Welles.
Almeno tre importanti opere in libreria, articoli e studi sui suoi numerosi inediti, film sui suoi film e soprattutto l'edizione, a volte discussa, di alcuni tra i suoi capolavori incompiuti come Don Chisciotte, It's All True, The One Man Band.

WELLES, ORSON
, actor, writer, director. Welles was born in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Although he had little formal education, he was, fortuitously, enrolled in the Todd School for Boys in Woodstock, Illinois. There he came under the tutelage of its headmaster, Roger Hill, who introduced the young prodigy to his favorite author, Shakespeare, and encouraged his theatrical experiments. At the time of his graduation from Todd in 1931, Welles had already formulated many of the basic concepts that would inform his adult career. He then embarked on a painting tour of Ireland. While there, he made his professional debut in the Dublin Gate Theatre production of Jew Süss. Unable to parlay his Irish success into either a London or a New York engagement, Welles returned to the Todd School in 1932, where he and Hill prepared for publication a series of acting editions, The Mercury Shakespeare. The following year, Welles met Katherine Cornell and her husband, Guthrie McClintic, who invited him to join a national tour. In July 1934, during the summer hiatus, Welles appeared in and directed his first film, a silent one-reeler, Hearts of Age.

Mr. George Orson Welles
This is a new intro, and I hope you are a new visitor to my site, that way you won't notice the difference. I'm glad so many people have come in the past months, and I'm really grateful. I wasn't aware that so many people shared my interests and that this site would grow so much, though I must admit it isn't penthouse .com or anything. First of all I have to say that this site is dedicated to Orson Welles, and I hope it will prove useful in people getting to knnow him and his art better. We have been under heavy construction lately and will continue with the add-ons for a while now. Thank you for coping. If you've never been here before, and I'm certain you haven't, then I bid you welcome on behalf of those of us who appreciate the art of film, and, in turn, appreciate you. As you can see I'm full of it today. This page is part of the webring I created called WORLDWIDEWELLES , and will have links to many other sites on O.W. himself. Think of it as a fan club for those with web sites. The links on this are be posted below (The gray banner). Also, check out

The Mercury Theatre on the Air
The Mercury Theatre on the Air, a show featuring the acclaimed New York drama company founded by Orson Welles and John Houseman. In its brief run, it featured an impressive array of talents, including Agnes Moorehead, Bernard Herrmann, and George Coulouris. The show is famous for its notorious War of the Worlds broadcast, but the other shows in the series are relatively unknown. This site has many of the surviving shows, and will eventually have all of them. The Campbell Playhouse. All of the surviving Mercury Theatre shows are available from this page in RealAudio format (some are also in MP3 format). There are several Campbell Playhouse episodes available here as well, in both RealAudio and MP3 formats; the rest are being added gradually.

(George; ), actor, director, and writer. In a career that spanned nearly fifty years, Welles achieved his greatest fame for two controversial projects. The first, the 1938 radio adaptation of H. G. Wells's War of the Worlds on Halloween night, panicked many listeners, who had not heard the opening announcement that it was a play and thought they were hearing a news report that the United States had been invaded by Martians. The second was his first film — his masterpiece, Citizen Kane , which he wrote, directed, and starred in. Inspired by the life of newspaper publisher William Randolph Hearst , the film won Academy Awards but led to legal battles with Hearst, who wanted it suppressed. Welles strongly influenced the art of film with his innovative camera, sound, and editing techniques. Other film credits include The Magnificent Ambersons The Lady from Shanghai , and Macbeth

Welles, (George) Orson
Orson Welles in the title role of Macbeth, see Audiovisual Features (b. May 6, 1915, Kenosha, Wis., U.S.d. Oct. 10, 1985, Los Angeles), American motion-picture actor, director, producer, and writer. His innovative narrative techniques and use of photography, dramatic lighting, and music to further the dramatic line and to create mood combined to make his Citizen Kane (1941)which he wrote, directed, produced, and acted inone of the most influential films in the history of the art. From his progressive mother (a pianist and crack shot with a rifle), Welles learned to play the piano and the violin. His parents separated when he was six years old, and his mother died when he was eight. Through his father, a successful inventor and manufacturer, who died when his son was 13, Welles met actors and sportsmen. By the time he was 11, Welles had twice traveled around the world. He attended the Todd School for Boys in Woodstock, Ill., where he was an indifferent student but learned much about dramatics. He studied briefly at the Art Institute of Chicago and worked as a reporter before going to Ireland, where he made a sketching tour by donkey cart. His acting debut was made at the Gate Theatre, Dublin, in the autumn of 1931, where he acted in Hamlet . Welles remained in Ireland for a year, acting with the Abbey Players as well as at the Gate. After a tour of Spain and Morocco, he returned to Chicago and then toured with Katharine Cornell's company in 1933-34, playing Mercutio in
