Díganselo a las 45 mil personas que rebalsaron el Estadio de Vélez y que siguieron el show con una devoción casi religiosa. Porque el ex líder de una de las 4 o 5 bandas más importantes de la historia dio justo en el inconsciente colectivo de no una, sino varias generaciones, que se congregaron para emocionarse y disfrutar de una parte de la mejor música que pudo dar el rock. Y pareció que todo se combinó para que fuera la noche perfecta. El concierto empezó a las 8:40, sólo diez minutos después de lo anunciado. La puntualidad inglesa chocó con la desorganización argentina, así que con los primeros acordes de “In the Flesh” se pudo ver a decenas de personas entrando desaforadamente al estadio, tal como en la película “The Wall”. Justamente el comienzo del espectáculo fue una prolongada cita a aquel álbum: Waters instalado sobre una plataforma, semejando a un líder fascista que selecciona a su público y manda a la ejecución a los desechados. Para los demás, el nombre es signo de al menos una interrogación y, para una legión de fanáticos, simplemente la firma de un semidiós. Para llegar hasta el ex líder de Pink Floyd, un convoy de periodistas latinoamericanos ha cruzado el Atlántico y ha aterrizado en Londres. La actitud es la de un grupo de Fuerzas de Paz dispuesto a obtener, en ese lapso, la quintaesencia de un músico combativo. En la retirada no son pocos los heridos: el sarcasmo lacónico y elegante de Waters se impone como un látigo que lo separa a él de otros artistas complacidos y complacientes.
