Ok, so if youre like me, youve been waiting for a newly packaged remastered edition of JTs earlier work. All in all, this cd sounds great.. much better than the classic "James Taylors Greatest Hits" (white cover) thats been on the shelves for such a long time. My only glitch though is that "Something In The Way She Moves" is the original version from his 68 debut, and not the recut (and better) version on the old greatest hits. The version for "Country Road" is also different, and not nearly as good. However, they did manage to include the old greatest hits version for "Carolina In My Mind" (thank God). Songs like "Up On The Roof" and "Only A Dream In Rio" are good, but not needed since theyre already covered on the James Taylor Greatest Hits 2 (Columbia) release. It would have been nice to have other older tunes. The cd is great though.

WILLIAM GRIGOR and ELSPETH TAYLOR Updated: October 22, 2002 Our Grigor history is traced to William Grigor and his wife Elspeth Taylor . They were married July 6, 1802, in Elgin Parish, Moray County, Scotland. Their first five children are recorded in the Parish of New Spynie, and the second five children are shown in Alves Parish, Moray County. James Grigor and Helen Taylor were married June 25, 1853, in Alves Parish, Moray County Scotland. Their marriage is recorded in the Duffus Parish, Moray County Old Parochial Register. The 1881 Census of Scotland indicates that Helen was living with the family of her daughter Mary-Ann in Kinloss, Elgin/Morayshire, Scotland. The 1891 and 1901 Census of Ontario shows her living with the family of her daughter Helen in Anson Township, Ontario. Helen is buried in the Minden Village Cemetery, Haliburton County, Ontario. Biographical Note Scope and Content Note The Papers of James Oliver Jelks Taylor (1893-1952) consist of nine folders divided into two series. Series one consists of Taylor's correspondence while series two contains published material and a photograph of the Reverend Taylor taken in Korea. Series Two. Folder four contains English by the Sentence Method , written by Taylor and J.S. Ryang. The volume, written to help Koreans learn English, was published ca. 1921. Folder five contains JAP, The Growth of a Soul: The Letters, of Hatton Towson; Student, Soldier, and Missionary , edited by Taylor. Folder six contains the "Minutes of the Second Annual Meeting of the Russian Department of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South, Harbin, China, September 11, 1923." Folder seven contains A Practical Dictionary of the Russian and English and English and Russian Languages . Taylor was born in 1947 to a couple of musical parents. His dad was a country fiddler while his mom was a classically trained pianist, violinist and organist. Jim was first horn for the Richardson (Texas) High School Golden Eagle Band directed by Joe Frank. Joe not only greatly influenced Jims musical training, he turned Richardson into one of the top band programs in the world. After making the TMEA All-State Band on French Horn, Jim went on to SMU, played in an Army Band and finished up at NTSU under the direction of the renowned band director, Maurice McAdow, another great influence on Jims music training. Jim started composing and arranging while in high school, mostly for horn choirs. Upon becoming a band director, he wrote many band arrangements for his bands. In the early '90s, he began using the computer and the ENCORE program to compose. A few years later, he discovered how his works could be converted to MIDI and the rest is history. He could write for his bands and then just write for the fun of it. While a composition might take months to write when in college, he now can write one in hours. Most of the fifty songs on this site were written in under three hours.

In a period when the American public hungered for "authentic" images from the American West (indeed, from around the globe), these drawings had an immense impact on the public imagination. Journals such as , and Next Taylor's illustrations contributed to 19th century Euro-American stereotypes of Native Americans. This drawing of the kidnapping of Josephine Meeker appeared in Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper in 1880. The caption reads, in part: "Then he placed a musket to her forehead and said 'Indian going to shoot.' The courageous girl never flinched and laughed at the burley savage."
