Killer storm heads for Tokyo
As it orbited the earth on Tuesday, space shuttle Discovery snapped this picture of Typhoon Pabuk before the storm was downgraded to a tropical storm. TOKYO, Japan Nearly 50,000 people in central Japan have been ordered to evacuate their homes as a powerful tropical storm that has killed six people and injured dozens moves on Tokyo. Sixty-six flights through Narita, Tokyo's international airport, were delayed and two cancelled. The storm, packing winds of up to 108 kilometers per hour (67 mph), already had forced 7,000 other people to flee their homes in southwestern Japan and left two missing, officials and the media said. The storm, which was downgraded from a typhoon on Tuesday, also forced Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko to postpone a highly publicized tennis match, their first public game since Akihito came to the throne 12 years ago.
