MAY 31, 2004 MON SEARCH Lush like Blue Lagoon, but minus Brooke Shields By Ian Tan THINK of this game as a cross between the Blue Lagoon and Indiana Jones. Like the famous movie with Brooke Shields, you find yourself stranded on a tropical island with so much flora and fauna that it feels like you've gone on vacation. But all is not well in Paradise, as the boring old cliche goes. You are in the company of a few hundred thugs who are busy chewing on cigars when not looking to put a bullet or two through your head. As you keep your scalp intact and mow your way through the evil people with Land Rovers and rocket launchers, you suddenly find yourself in weirder territory. Like The Island of Dr Moreau, you discover that the island is actually the test bed of a scientist who is creating a mutant breed of monsters. But really, the story is at best a distraction to the whole game experience. REVIEWERS RAVING Since the game came out a few months ago, reviewers have gone over the moon about how fantastic it looks. As you run through bushes, the foliage actually parts like the real thing, rustling sounds included. | |
