Do you have to go exact version to exact version? We don't want to upgrade our current server to 4.1 because it is our live server. We want to make sure 4.1 is thoroughly tested on the new server before going live with it.
We could install 4 on the new server, migrate the data, make sure it's accurate, then upgrade the new server to 4.1 and test. The entire time keeping the version 4 server live. However, this way, changes made on the old server between the time we copy the data to the new server and the time we cut over to the new server will not be on the new server.

I Checked the "Security" -> "SSL configuration" tab and all SSL is turned off. The "Create or remove CA" tab has a warning "If you click 'completely revoke all certificates', the server certificate will be removed. Later, the mail server will not work anymore if configured to use TLS. Are you sure?" and it prompts for a CA password. I don't want to do anything that will cause the server to stop working, but I want to remove the "Download: SuSE Linux Openexchange Server CA" link so it does not cause confusion to our users.

Then josh Myer, the coauthor of this guide, just kind of blurted it out,and I tried it on his server. It worked. The setup is really basic.

Setting Up E-mail
Last updated: December 15, 2000
Development stage: Beta
E-mail is probably one of the most important parts of using the Internet, so it only makes sense that Linux lets you use your precious e-mail. Your ISP probably uses a POP3 server for your e-mail. The program pine is an e-mail client that enables you to read, send, reply, sort, delete, forward, and do a lot more to your e-mail. That's what I use, although you might want to try other mail programs such as mutt or elm Then again, you may also have IMAP available. IMAP keeps the mailbox on the ISP so you don't really have to download it to your box, but read it and allow yourself to make changes that are saved onto the server later on. To my knowledge, not a lot of ISPs do this, but your company might use it. In a lot of ways, it's a lot more convenient.
Downloading Your E-mail
To download whatever e-mail you have onto your system, you should use a program called fetchmail . It handles POP3 (probably what you use), IMAP, and a bunch of other protocols for e-mail transfer. For IMAP you probably want to use pine

Help File Library: How To Setup User Authentication in Apache
Ever wanted to have your website have user/password restrictions on whatever you want? Now you can learn how to do so with an Apache Server. First off, having Apache installed and running is required. Ok, now theres really only 2 steps to this:
  • create a file with user names and passwords
  • tell the server what you want protected and which users are allowed
    First Step:
For the first step you will use the program htpasswd. It creates a user file and can add or modify users. For security reasons you should not create the file under the root directory. I made it under /usr/local/etc/httpd/ and will use this to show examples. To create a new user file and add the username "josh" with the password "hampster" to the file /usr/local/etc/httpd/users: htpasswd -c /usr/local/etc/httpd/users josh
"-c" tells htpasswd to create a new users file. After you run this command, you will be prompted for a password for josh, and confirm it by entering again. You can add other users the same way but without the "-c" option. You can also use the same command to modify the password of an existing user. Whenlooking at the /usr/local/etc/httpd/users file, it might look like this:

    What's here
Magic Cap is an operating system created by General Magic for small, handheld computers. Early versions of Magic Cap were used in products like Sony's Magic Link and Motorola's Envoy, and the current generation powers General Magic's DataRover. Over the years, these products have garnered an ethusiasic user base, and I have decided to publish some of my freeware programs here for these users to download. My software is oriented towards communications, since most of my days working for General Magic have been spent in this realm. Magic Cap provides a good foundation to build these types of applications on, and the speedy development cycle encourages experimentation. Some of the pages here do not include downloadable software, because they refer to purely experimental programs which have not been extensively tested, and as such would be dangerous to install on the average user's device.

Sprint Paranet at ABN AMRO North America, Inc.
I became a Technical Analyst with Paranet in November, 1996. Purchased in August 1997 by Sprint , the newly-renamed Sprint Paranet is a consulting company that specializes in systems, network, and business analysis, design, and re-engineering. Their aim is to develop a partnership with the client so they can make them the best in their field. They are not vendor-tied, so they can theoretically recommend the best solution for the client without being forced (contractually) to say "Sun" or "HP" or "Intel" or any specific vendor. I left Sprint Paranet in 1998. My client was ABN AMRO North America, Inc. , an international retail and trading bank. Coming from my stint at SBC, I was already familiar with a lot of the general practices of their organization, so they were really happy at not having to explain production versus development work and that information technology takes a back seat to making money and so on. I was a webmaster, did systems and network administration and planning for both hardware and software, and was doing project coordination for Internet-based web sites that they developed for their customers. As part of my projects, I wrote six (and completed five) technical manuals for them as well:
