Mumtaz Mahal was dubbed "the Flying Filly" after this daughter of The Tetrarch proved herself one of the fastest two-year-olds ever. An early purchase for the Aga Khan, she also became one of his most important foundation mares. Her descendants, which include Mahmoud, Nasrullah, Royal Charger, Abernant, Petite Etoile, and Shergar, spread her influence around the world, making her one of the most important broodmares of the 20th Century.

Lady Josephine in racing trim Bred at Sledmere Stud in Yorkshire by Lady Sykes, Mumtaz Mahal was bred at the height of her sire's popularity as a sire. One of the greatest two-year-olds of all time, The Tetrarch (1911) broke down before he could prove his ability at the classic distances, but was off to a great start at stud. His first crop produced the outstanding two-year-old Stefan the Great . With his first crop just three-year-olds in 1919, he topped the Leading Sires List, led by his champion two-year-old, Tetratema , and helped by his daughter Snow Maiden , winner of that year's Irish Oaks. The next year, The Tetrarch was third on the sires' list, with classic winners Tetratema (2,000 Guineas) and Caligula (St. Leger).

went there n the waiters were rude n the manager seemed even more rude. the food was awful for the price we paid only good thing was the music n the decor. we had to wait for ages to get served. waiters were too slow.
iqbal i went to this restaurant with my boyfriend for our 1 year anniversary and we travelled over an hour to visit this restaurant. Although i read the reviews about this restaurant i still went and what can i say i was so dissapointed. The only decent thing about this restaurant is the decor and the food was okay. nothing special. The woman manager was so rude to the waiters in front of the customers. This really put me off my food as i belive that this is so not professional. she was so bad to him that he walked out. i felt sorry for him as he is a human being just like the rest of us and no one has the right to speak to anbody like the way she was. from where i see the situation it was a good thing that he walked out. i really do advise people not to go there, trust me try any restaurant apart from this.
aaliya We visited Mumtaz early on a Sunday evening and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The food was excellent - especially the prawn poori starter and lamd passanda main. chicken sagwalla was also better than average. The service was quite slow, but not unbearably so - although the restaurant was only 1/3-full. I thought it was a little expensive, but certainly not outrageous - especially considering the area. Certainly one of the better curry houses in London, will definitely be going back.

She was married at the age of 14, on 10 May , to then Prince Khurram , who would later ascend the Peacock Throne as Mughal emperor Shah Jahan I . She was his third wife, and named Mumtaz Mahal , which means in Urdu "beloved ornament of the palace". She became his favourite wife. She died June 17 in Burhanpur in the Deccan , during childbirth of her daughter . Buried in the Taj Mahal in Agra Not much is known about her except that she was woman of legendary beauty and virtue , who led a very deep and loving marriage with Shah Jahan . Even during her lifetime, poets would espouse her beauty gracefulness and compassion . It was said that even the moon would hide in shame from her beauty. Mumtaz Mahal was Shah Jahan ´s trusted companion, traveling with him all over the Mughal empire , and visiting the lands. He trusted her so far, that he even gave her his imperial seal , the Muhr Uzah . She was a big influence on him, apparently often intervening on behalf of the poor and destitute. But she also enjoyed watching

By Pip Wilson June 7, 1631 Sources differ as to date .] While on a campaign with her husband ( Shah Jahan Mughal Emperor of India), Mumtaz Mahal (born Arjumand Banu Begam) , died.
The Taj Mahal, described by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore as “a tear on the face of eternity”, is often said to be one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World , and is her tomb. The grand Taj Mahal stands as a monument to the love of a man for a woman. As she lay on her deathbed, it is said that Mumtaz whispered to Jahan a dying wish for him to build a monument that would express the beauty of their love for each other. Stricken with grief, Shah Jahan remained indoors for a week; when he emerged his hair had turned white, his back was now bent, and his face lined with despair. He ordered his entire kingdom into mourning for the next two years, and it is said he was inconsolable to the point of contemplating abdication in favour of his sons.

He was a young handsome prince accustomed to luxury and refinement. As he made his way to the Meena bazaar, the private market attached to the harem, he was surrounded by a string of fawning companions, all eager to catch his eye. Even at 15, young Khurram cut a dashing figure with his father's aristocratic nose, high forehead and large languid eyes. Every maid at the bazaar carried a torch for him. The Flame is Lit Arjumand Banu sat with her silks and glass beads at her shop. She was the daughter of Asaf Khan, the brother of the emperor Jahangir's consort, Noorjahan. Exquisitely pretty, Khurram was drawn to her. He saw a piece of glass at her stall and asked its worth. When she saucily replied that it was diamond and not glass he gave her ten thousand rupees (a sum she boldly said he could not afford), picked up the piece of glass and left carryimg with him her image in his mind.

Many splendid buildings of that time are still there to be seen, among them the fortress built by Akbar, within the walls of which are the palace of Shah Jahan and the Pearl Mosque. Still more noted is the Taj Mahal, built by Shah Jahan as a tomb for himself and his wife.

Mumtaz is Vela's cousin. Mumtaz was a cute child two years ago. Now she is a beautiful young woman but she has become increasingly silly. (Mumtaz is pronounced "Mumtaj".) Like most Austroloids, Mumtaz ages about two years for every year she lives. Along with physical growth, I had hoped that her mind would become very intelligent by now. But no, she has been more like a child than when she was a child. She is just plain silly! Mumtaz Daily dressing!

Most Austroloid men are peddle rickshaw drivers. This is in part because peddle rickshaws are cheap. Right is the Mumtaz and her sister riding in the back of her father's peddle rickshaw.
Wash Day!
And now that Mumtaz is getting older, she must do the work of a young woman. Since her family lives on the street, she must do the wash on the streets. Look how young Mumtaz was when I arrived in Madras this last trip.

Spanking The Beautiful Mumtaz
When I am in India, I am a different person than in the USA. It does not take more than a few weeks for the insane pressure of India to get me to reach my boiling point. (I can only stand for so long watching people forcing square pegs into round holes just because it makes them feel good.) One day, a particularly nasty little child decided to beat "Puppy" the pet dog who is rather old and flea bitten and was sleeping at the time. The dog immediately bit the child (which was totally justified) and then Puppy immediately went back to sleep. Everyone claimed that Puppy was a bad dog... to which I protested saying the little child was a very bad child. So Mumtaz took it apon herself to give Puppy a whipping which would surely have lead to Puppy biting Mumtaz much harder than Puppy had bitten the child. Seeing Mumtaz wearing a huge smile and joyfully starting to whip Puppy, I immediately became very angry because in India, dispite all the claims that Hindu respect the rights of other, Hindu's are extremely cruel to animals and have absolutely no feeling for them. It is as if they release all their hidden frustrations on animals (in the same way that they do to strangers during riots when they love to butcher people in the worst way.)

has been our favourite ever since our first official visit in 1999. There
was a slight relapse in 2000, where it fell back into the chasing pack, but
since then it has held its head high in the lead, a yardstick for others to
follow. With thirteen mouths to feed, the Mumtaz was certainly going to have a job
on its hands to keep us all happy. It was a warm evening and since the
restaurant was bulging to capacity, we were shown to the last table upstairs. Fortunately, an air conditioning unit sat alongside, and as long as we didn't mind the gentle thrumming of the compressor, it would only be the food raising our temperatures.
