My Memories of Marine Sergeant George C. Scott By Major Bob Morrissey USMC (Ret) September 24, 1999 The author of this memoir is Maj Bob Morrissey, USMC (Ret), who was aMarine Corps combat correspondent and Public Affairs Officer, who was Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen Wallace M. Greene, Jr.'s personal public affairs officer. I asked Mo if it would be OK to forward this to the WWII list because there have been a number of posts re/Scott in recent days. I hope you all approve. BMF George C. "Patton" Scott, who died Wednesday of an aneurysm at age 71, and I were good friends and frequent liberty buddies while serving together as three-stripers at the Washington Marine Barracks from 19461948. George and I were both instructors at the Marine Corps Institute, then an accredited academic correspondence school for Marines. I instructed first-year college journalism, English grammar, and authored a new MCI course in photo journalism. George instructed English literature and Radio Speaking and Writing. Because he marched with the grace of a gazelle, he was designated guidon bearer for the elite Barracks ceremonial company. I marched immediately behind him as company right guide , ever-failing to emulate his awesome ballbearing strides. We marched in rain, snow, and Washington heat in many military funerals at Arlington cemeterysometimes two or three a dayas well as in presidential inaugural parades and other special ceremonial occasions in DC. This was in addition to our regular MCI duties. George found funeral details distasteful to him. He became very depressed when witnessing families and relatives mourning the deaths of their Marines.

In anticipation of moving, I am forced to completely stop trading for quite a while. I have several trades that I am finishing up, and then that's it! I probably won't be back to it until this summer. Thanks to all who I have traded with in the past, and I look forward to trading again in the future! Thanks! Live Music CDR Trading is a lot of fun! Live music cdr trading is a great way to re-live a concert you may have attended, or to catch a concert you may have missed. At least, that's how I see it! I am a trader of live music cdr and vcd (video cd). I collect music by such artists as Morrissey, The Smiths, Rush, Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Stryper, Slayer, Indigo Girls, Kiss, and many others. I also have cdr artwork or links to the artwork for many of my shows.

    What They Said
    ...in 2000

    ...in 1999

    Back to
    Almost Fabulous
July 23, 1998 Celtic Legacy were formed in January of this year by Dave Morrissey and Dave Boylan which evolved from a band called Mischief. Other members of the band include Phil McEvoy, Tom Branagan and Ciara Roe. They decided to give this business called music a serious attempt and so they took a great risk and bypassed the traditional demo stage and went straight for the full CD release complete with artwork. The band are highly influenced by Thin Lizzy and the twin guitar rock sound of the seventies. As such Celtic Legacy run the risk of being labeled as old time rock and roll. The interest from the media in general in Ireland has been very disappointing. Is this because the band is not playing trendy music or it is just total apathy? I first became aware of this CD via the Internet and the Network Of Wild Ones which is a newsgroup of Thin Lizzy supporters from all over the globe. Celtic Legacy have done reasonably ok as a result of their involvement in this newsgroup, selling a number of copies of the CD. The CD is now on release and has been since May of this year. Both Dave Morrissey and Dave Boylan spoke to me on the radio show. Dave Morrissey: "It took four months from start to finish. We had a few delays with the artwork mainly due to the fact that we could not think of a name for the band."

    Profile
Oliver Morrissey maintains primary research interests in macroeconomic effects of aid and in trade policy reform in Africa. He joined Nottingham in 1989 and was promoted to his current position in 2004. He has published many articles in international journals, mostly on aid policy and effectiveness, trade policy reform, conditionality and adjustment. Present research concentrates on the fiscal impact of aid, volatility of capital flows; trade and non-policy barriers to export growth; and the political economy of policy reform. Another abiding interest is fiscal illusion and perceptions of taxes; although to date this work has concentrated on the UK there are hopes to apply aspects to African countries.
