Now shooting Lindy
ON MONDAY, filming started in Queensland on Channel 7's $8-million four-hour mini-series, Through My Eyes.
The drama tells the story of Lindy Chamberlain and her then husband, Michael, whose nine-week-old daughter, Azaria, disappeared on the evening of August 17, 1980.
Lindy said she saw a dingo take the baby from the family tent at Uluru.
Within days, dingo ``experts'' were claiming a dingo would not have done such a thing.
The following year Lindy Chamberlain was charged with murdering Azaria and in 1982 stood trial in Darwin.
On October 29, 1982, Lindy was found guilty, and sentenced to life imprisonment with hard labour.
The following day her husband, Michael, was found guilty of being an accessory after the fact and given a suspended jail sentence of 18 months, and placed on a three-year, $500, good-behaviour bond.
Appeals to the Federal and High courts were lost, but doubts cast over forensic evidence eventually saw Lindy released from jail.
Producers Tony Cavanaugh and Simone North, of Liberty and Beyond Productions who gave us the award-winning Channel 10 mini-series The Day of the Roses spent three years researching Through My Eyes. At $8 million, it is one of the most expensive mini-series commissioned in Australia.

Texture Mapping as a Fundamental Drawing Primitive
Paul Haeberli and Mark Segal
June 1993
Abstract
Texture mapping has traditionally been used to add realism to computer graphics images. In recent years, this technique has moved from the domain of software rendering systems to that of high performance graphics hardware. But texture mapping hardware can be used for many more applications than simply applying diffuse patterns to polygons. We survey applications of texture mapping including simple texture mapping, projective textures, and image warping. We then describe texture mapping techniques for drawing anti-aliased lines, air-brushes, and anti-aliased text. Next we show how texture mapping may be used as a fundamental graphics primitive for volume rendering, environment mapping, color interpolation, contouring, and many other applications. CR Categories and Subject Descriptors: [Computer Graphics]: Picture/Image Generation; I.3.7 [Computer Graphics]: Three-Dimensional Graphics and Realism - color, shading, shadowing, texture-mapping, line drawing, and anti-aliasing

CARE SHEET FOR SNAKES
By Paul Hollander pholland@iastate.edu (Freely Distributable) Each snake has various needs that must be met in order to keep it in good health in captivity. The following is an outline of factors that are important to the well-being of your pet. TEMPERATURE: A reptile has the same temperature as its surroundings; it simply moves to a warmer area to heat up and a colder spot to cool down. Most have an "optimum" body temperature that can be maintained within a few degrees and that generally lies between 80 and 88 degrees F. Most tropical species prefer the top half of that range, and most temperate zone snakes like the bottom half. A temperature gradient in the cage lets the snake decide how warm it wants to be. A thermometer can be the herper's best friend because a snake won't eat if it's more than a few degrees below optimum temperature. Snakes have a day-night temperature cycle in the wild. Some studies indicate that if a reptile is constantly held at optimum temperature for weeks, it suffers heat stress. Males also have the sperm killed. It is probably best for a snake to spend the night at a temperature 5 to 20 degrees F below its daytime activity temperature.

When there is high magnetic field activity, the ionosphere becomes lossy and no matter how high the solar flux (which determines MUF), HF radio propagation conditions will be worse than when the geomagnetic activity is low. The planetary A index , Ap, is a measure of this activity. NOAA publishes predicted values of Ap at the 27 day outlook.
