Foster was born on 29 December 1929, and his home city of record is Hubbarb, Texas. The U21 The U21 is a medium-sized aircraft, built to hold 8 or 10 passengers and crew. The U-21A was a fixed-wing, twin-reciprocating-engined Beech Aircraft airplane, the military version of the civilian Beech Queen Air aircraft. It was used mainly by the Army, to a lesser extent by the Air Force, generally used for VIP or commutes rather than surveillance or combat support missions. The Incident Batt's photograph was selected as a known prisoner from the JCRC photo album of those missing, but the U.S. Government states that it is unknown why the source selected Batt's photo. Returning POWs did not indicate that any of the crew or passengers had been held with them in their prison system. Examination of intelligence reports suggest that there was more than one prison "system" in Vietnam. Those prisoners who were released were maintained in the same systems. If the missing men aboard the U21A were captured and kept in another system, the POWs who returned would not know it. In 1988, "material" was provided the United States Government that correlated with Captain Barnes. Additionally, the area where this "material" was reportedly found (Hue) generally correlates with the last known location of Captain Barnes' aircraft. Some reports label this a "dog tag" report, while others mention remains. As of 1999, the crew and all the passengers remain unaccounted for, listed as presumed dead/body not recovered.

THE SONS OF LEE MARVIN By Phil Snyder As I delved deeper into The Way of Lee Marvin and became entranced by his mysterious American archetype and evolutionary throwback qualities, I began noticing other actors that transmitted similar signals, as if they all shared a common bond, perhaps membership in a secret brotherhood or some common ancestor. Whatever the connection, it was a deep, almost mystical, kinship that transcended whatever physical resemblances they may have displayed. No longer just a greatactor, Lee Marvin became the ultimate expression of a certain Eternal Spirit, if you will, the leader of a strangely familiar outfit of tough guys and character actors who seemed to possess some secret knowledge and power. It started out with Warren Oates and James Coburn, who both bore a physical resemblance to Lee Marvin, but later extended to include many other unique individuals, such as Robert Mitchum and Jason Robards. It was a pretty diverse bunch and the list keeps growing. Meanwhile, Tom Waits had recently released his breakthrough album, Swordfishtrombones , and it had become the official soundtrack for my life, providing background music for my investigation into The Way of Lee Marvin, not to mention the other arcane investigations that I pursued after a hard day of washing dishes at the Sampan. I began to imagine the dreamlike, peripherally interconnected tales spun on Waits' classic album, with its enigmatic protagonist, Frank, as a vintage Lee Marvin movie. The Lee Marvin Thing by Phil Snyder The Lee Marvin Thing started with a dream, back in the days when I was a dishwasher in a Chinese restaurant. My three year hitch washing dishes at The Sampan was a strange time for me, filled with all manner of insights and delusions that defined the rest of my life. The scar on the back of my left hand from a bad case of dishpan hands is the only physical evidence left, but the scars on my mind run deep. Working in the food service industry wasn't exactly what I had pictured myself doing after I dropped out of school, but I was all out of options. The pressure to do something important with my life was off, so I resigned myself to my fate and relaxed. I began using the various aspects of The Sampan and my special role within it to construct what you might call a personal philosophy. A whole new world opened up before me... but that's another story. The dream that led me to my thing with Lee Marvin occurred about a year into the job. The Dream I was late for work, so I rushed off to the Sampan. The first job each day was to clean the trash out of the parking lot. After throwing it all into the dumpster, I looked down and noticed a dead bird beside it. It wasn't unusual to see birds near the dumpster. Whenever you emptied the trash, whole flocks of them would fly out and startle you, their feeding frenzy rudely interrupted, but this was the first dead one I saw there. Recalling the dream, I wondered about the possible connections between this dead bird and the wounded craft in the dream. It seemed fairly obvious, but where did it go from there?
