I'll change my life style and wise up! SPORTS Cycling: is a popular and interesting sport almost globally and Linden is no exception. The last race held in Linden was won by Orray Homberson and placing second was Allen Steed. On this Assignment I contacted Sammy barker about Cycling. He stated that when you’re a cyclist you can’t do certain thins like training one time and stopping, you must keep on training. So when you have to race, you will have the ability and strength in your thighs and the stamina to go on a long race and not “feel haggard out”.

An Extraordinary Individual Historical Context Just imagine for a moment that it is the beginning of the 20th century. The war in Bosnia, Hiroshima, the two world wars, the Great Depression of 1929, and the Bolshevik Revolution have not yet taken place. It is autumn 1900. A young man on a bicycle, fresh out of Harvard, his head filled with dreams and ambitions, effortlessly climbs the hills bordering the shores of the Gatineau River. His journey comes to an end near a small lake called Kingsmere. Intrigued by the analogy between the name of the site and his own name, he decides, then and there, to build his future from this site, which would become the Mackenzie King Estate after his death. top An Ambitious Young Man The young man, William Lyon Mackenzie King, grandson of the rebel leader William Lyon Mackenzie, was already dreaming of becoming Prime Minister of Canada and had recorded this ambition in the diary he was to keep meticulously for nearly fifty years. He remained faithful to his dream and succeeded, climbing the ladder from one rung to the next. He became a deputy minister in 1900, a member of Parliament in 1908, Minister of Labour in 1909 in the government of Sir Wilfred Laurier, whom he replaced as leader of the Liberal Party and Opposition Leader in 1919. He became Prime Minister of Canada in 1921 and held the position for 22 years, an unequalled record of longevity.

That ended one of the most remarkable lives in Canadian political history-a life which began right here in Berlin, Ontario, 75 years earlier. On Saturday, July 22, 2000 , the Waterloo Historical Society and Woodside National Historic Site combined to honor our community's most famous citizen-fifty years on! Mackenzie King was still Prime Minister when he last visited Kitchener in September 1947. Here he addresses a crowd from the steps of Kitchener City Hall. If the Kitchener Hotel across the road was removed, King would be looking directly at his birthplace on Benton Street. Within a year, Mackenzie King retired and within 3 years he had passed away. The boyhood home of Willie King is not to be missed. Inside you'll be transported back to the 1880s when John and Isabel King, along with their four children, Bella, Jennie, Max and Willie lived at Woodside. Mackenzie King always referred to his 8 years at Woodside as the most memorable of his life. Did You Know!
