Malcolm X Civil Right Leader
Biography:
Malcolm X (nee Malcolm Little) was born on May 19, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska and was shot to death in Harlem's Audubon Ballroom in New York City on February 21, 1965. Malcolm was the son of the Reverend Earl and Louise Little. He married Betty Shabazz and had six children.
John F. Kennedy, Robert F. Kennedy, Martin Luther King, and Malcolm X were all assassinated martyrs of the 1960's. These four men believed in the possibility for social change and the necessity of that change. Of the four, Malcolm X came from the humblest roots, was the most radical, and displayed the most anger. He often said, "All Negroes are angry and I am the angriest."
Many Americans, white and black, were afraid of Malcolm X's seemingly violent side. Unlike the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcolm X believed in using self-defense against overt racism. The life of Malcolm X cannot be summed up in a few simple phrases because of the complex nature of the man and the philosophical shifts he made in search of social truth. He had three names: Malcolm Little, Malcolm X, and El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz. Each name has its own history.
Malcolm Little's father was a Baptist minister and a follower of Marcus Garvey, leader of the "Back to Africa" movement popular among African Americans in the 1920's. One of Malcolm's first memories was the burning of his house by the Ku Klux Klan. His father was murdered when Malcolm was still a child, allegedly by the Klan.

Malcolm X was born Malcolm Little on May 19, 1925 in Omaha, Nebraska. Malcolm's father, Ear was Baptist minister who was run out of town and the family moved to Lansing, Michigan. Earl Little was thrown in front of a street car and killed when Malcolm was six years old. Malcolm dropped out of school after the eighth grade, and started running the streets in Detroit, Boston, and HJarlem as a pimp. thug, drug dealer, and a thief. At age 21, the arrested and sentended to 10 years in the state prison. While in prison, Malcolm began studying the teachings Elijah Muhammad. In 1952, Malcolm was released from prison and moved to Michigan with his oldest, who was a Muslim. He would later meet Muhammad at the Nation of Islam headquarters in Chicago, and he was given the name "X" to replace his slave name of Little. Malcolm became a spokesman for more than 12 years and traveled all over the country preaching the tenets of Islam. He not only attracted new members, but gave many blacks the ideology of black pride and that "black is beautiful". Elijah Muhammad suspended Malcolm X for 90 days after making comments about the JFK Assassination. Malcolm quit the Nation of Islam and formed his own group called Muslim Mosque, Inc in Harlem. He started the Organization of Afro American Unity in Europe, Africa, and United States. Malcolm X made a pilgrimage to Mecca where he was followed by US FBI agents during the journey. He converted to Orthodox Islam and changed his name to El Hajj-Malik Shabazz and renounced the Elijah Muhammad and his teachings. Malik El-Shabazz came back to the states and embraced a more humanistic and global view of the "black problem" in America and the world. Several attempts were made on his life after turning away from the Nation of Islam and Muhammad. He received threatening calls, hate mail, and house bombings. On February 21, 1965, Malik El Shabazz, was shot by there by three men from the Nation of Islam at the Audubon Ballroom in Harlem. The eulogy was read by Ossie Davis at the funeral.

SUFFER THE LITTLE CHILDREN TO COME TO ME
by Malcolm Smith
Taken from a taped interview with Joyce Hagelthorn on WPON AM, (Pontiac, MI) on July 17, 2000. Sometimes not too often, but occasionally I get profound statements coming from people when they sit in front of me. My favorites are always from the kids. In New York a few weeks ago, a lady brought her son to me. He was seven years old. No major health problem, just hyperactive like most kids. He sat on the stool, looking up at me. I'm looking down at him, thinking how do I explain what I do to a seven year old child. As I'm thinking this, he says, "So what do you do?" Is this kid psychic, or what!
"I got magic hands," I say. "I put my hands on people and that makes them big and strong."
"That's great," he replies. "What's on the table there?"
"Relaxation tapes."
"Do you have any classical music?"
"You like classical music?"
"I play the violin."
His mum sat on a chair about two feet away. We found him a nice relaxation tape, and I put my hands on his head. In a matter of two or three minutes, his head fell to his chest as he went into the relaxation mode. Without looking up he says to his mum, "You know, I do believe the power of God is flowing through me." The mum puts her hand to her mouth and looks at me like stunned. "Say that again," she says. And word for word, he says, "I do believe the power of God is flowing through me."

Australia LETTER IN DEFENCE OF THE LITTLE PEBBLE
IN RESPONSE TO THE LETTER "TIME TO LEAVE" DATED 21 FEBRUARY 2002
AND DELIVERED ON 22 MARCH 2002
Dear Glenn and all who signed the "Time to leave" document, I never imagined that I would ever write such a letter as this to you, Glenn. I could well imagine writing to the others in your Apostolate because the attitude of denial has been brewing for a few years. Most of the readers would not know the underlying facts which are the true causes for the loss of faith in those members of the Community of the Holy Family and other Fourth Branch members of the Order of Saint Charbel. For the time being the Little Pebble has chosen not to expose these causes and effects from which so many doubts were freely assented to and fostered leading to a denial of the truth in those members who signed the document. Regarding the Holy Family Community I have also known most of those concerned for the last 14 years and I have travelled down the same road with you in your journey and pilgrimage of faith. I have witnessed many of your "highs" and "lows" over these years. I have helped many of you to grow in the understanding of private revelation and prophecy in particular in the Teachings of the Catholic Church. I have witnessed your joys and comprehension of God’s Plan for the Little Pebble and your growth in understanding the charism given to him. In short I have witnessed your certitude in the truth of your own consciences over these years.

http://www.filethirteen.com/reviews/X/X.htm
X (1992) (a.k.a. Malcolm X) "Malcolm can be a metaphor for an entire generation that is lost." - Betty Shabazz the widow of Malcolm X With this film, Spike Lee's sets out to make a sweeping epic about the life and times of the assassinated black leader. However, with a running time of about 3 hours and 20 minutes, only one adjective adequately describes the film: Bloated. Lee misuses the entire first hour of the film after a brilliant opening sequence which juxtaposes a Malcolm X speech over the images of the videotaped Rodney King beating. After this opening, Lee takes us to the early life of Malcolm Little (Malcolm X's white name), and exposes him as a con artist, thief, drug abuser, zoot suiter etc... The worst of all of this: Lee devotes about 7 or 8 minutes to a pointless dance number. It is impossible to determine the purpose of all this flash and mirrors. Lee could have definitely used the celluloid more constructively. Most of it belongs on an editing room floor. Theresa Randle plays Little's girlfriend Laura. Before her character is even introduced Little promptly dumps her for a white woman. In an interview Randle claims that Little later discovers that she is a drug addict and a prostitute. I certainly didn't discern that from watching the film. it slips right past you.

Cons For some might come across as more myth than man Full Review Plot Details: This opinion reveals everything about the movie's plot We're not Americans, we're Africans who happen to be in America. We were kidnapped and brought here against our will from Africa. We didn't land on Plymouth Rock - that rock landed on us. Malcolm X What made Malcolm X Shabazz a great man, is that he had the guts to say what nine-tenths of American Negroes would like to say but don't have the guts to say. a Chicago doctor, Militant, 19 April 1965 I'm the man you think you are.... If you want to know what I'll do, figure out what you'll do. I'll do the same thingonly more of it. Malcolm X You're the one that the book [Bible] is talking about who is dead : dead to the kno wledge of yourself, dead to the knowledge of your own people, dead to the knowledge of yo ur own God, dead to the knwoledge of the devil. Why, you don't even know who the devil is . You think the devil is someone inside the ground that's going to burn you after you're dead. The devil is right here on top of this earth. He's got blue eyes, brown hair, whit e skin, and he's giving you hell every day. And you're too dead to see it.

The Tipping Point : How Little Things Can Make a Big Difference
Author Info: Malcolm Gladwell
The Tipping Point is the biography of an idea, and the idea is very simple. It is that the best way to
understand the emergence of fashion trends, the ebb and flow of crime waves, or, for that matter,
the transformation of unknown books into bestsellers, or the rise of teenage smoking, or the
phenomena of word of mouth, or any number of the other mysterious changes that mark everyday
life is to think of them as epidemics. Ideas and products and messages and behaviors spread just
like viruses do. [T]hree characteristicsone contagiousness; two, the fact that little causes can have big effects; and
three, that change happens not gradually but at one dramatic momentare the...three principles that
define how measles moves through a grade-school classroom or the flu attacks every winter. Of the
three, the third traitthe idea that epidemics can rise or fall in one dramatic momentis the most
