(AP) Jessica Lange on Rape in the Congo Story aired: Thursday, September 04, 2003 The current fighting in the Democratic Republic of Congo has been called a cocktail of wars within wars. Government groups, rebel groups, and six neighboring countries have been battling since 1998 over precious resources like cobalt and gold. In the process, the fighting has killed an estimated 3 million people. Actress Jessica Lange recently returned from a visit to the Democratic Republic of Congo in her new role as goodwill ambassador for UNICEF, and joins Here and Now to discuss her findings.
