This is a book by the noted advice columnist. It was published in 1961, so it seems to be a time capsule of the way people were thinking and what they were concerned about, in a byegone era. It is an iteresting historical document.

Is All Advice the Same Behind the Scenes?
The Legacy
of Advice Sisters On June 22, 2002 syndicated advice columnist Ann Landers died in Chicago. She was two weeks away from her 84th birthday. Ann Landers was an originalearnest, honest and sincere. She had a sympathy for the people who trusted her, and people responded to her integrity. Her column was more than a job, it was a calling, and each day for 46 years she shared her understanding and common sense with millions of people. Ann Landers' first column appeared on October 16, 1955. Three months later her twin sister, Pauline, began a copycat column under the name Dear Abby. In 1956 Pauline allegedly offered the Dear Abby column to the Sioux City Journal at a reduced rate, if they agreed not to run Ann Landers. The Sioux City Journal was the sisters' hometown newspaper. Ann Landers decided her column would end with her death.

52. Ann Landers Obituary
(The Unofficial) ann landers Obituary. Get over it. A World Almanac poll once named ann landers as the most influential woman in the United States.
http://www.funnycoke.com/Ann Landers Obituary.html
(The Unofficial) Ann Landers Obituary Esther Pauline Friedman Eppie Ann Landers Lederer, aka just Ann Landers, wrote herself into oblivion Saturday 22 June 2002 at age 83 at her Lake Shore Drive home, after a bout with writers block. "Once those words get all bunged up, it's like the complete stoppage of a real important artery or something" Ms. Landers personal physician, Dr. Doogie Howser Kildare, told reporters. Ms. Landers would have turned 84 on 4 July of this year. Ms. Landers, twin sister of Pauline Esther Friedman PoPo Abigail Van Buren Dear Abby Phillips, began her advice career on 16 October 1955, more than 40 years ago. Upon the advice of the famed psychic Mavis Davis of the Psychic Babbling Network, she sought out advice for a very personal problem. Not finding a source for advice except from a $200 per hour shrink, she decided it was time to provide the advice or the "economical shrinkage" as she often put it, herself. "Folks with worries can get my attention and seek advice for the cost of a postage stamp. That is in almost anybody's budget." Her official self proclaimed title was "Shrink Wrapper." She classified herself as a good listener but what she really was, was a good reader. Her readers wrote to her for advice and she read the letters. Her readers did not call her and verbally request advice. I hope she had an editor proofing her columns so she didn't write things she really didn't mean but I doubt it. In 1993, she was taken to task for calling the Pope a Pollack. Hey, she called a spade a spade. What's wrong with that? Jews are Heebs, Italians are Wops and the Stones are Micks. Get over it.

Dear Ann Landers FORTY-ONE YEARS OF ADVICE, WISDOM, AND UNCOMMON GOOD SENSE By Kira Albin, interview conducted in 1997
Photograph courtesy of Ann Landers For 41 years, seven days a week, Eppie Lederer aka Ann Landers has dispensed advice as reliably as the sun rises and sets.
Ninety million readers worldwide take Lederer's counsel like a tonic. Two thousand readers a day send letters, hoping for answers from the revered sage herself.
Lederer-who turns 79 on July 4-is a keep-your-chin-up, common-sense gal who has managed to stay relevant and contemporary for four decades. Her secret, besides sagacity, wit and abundant energy, is an army of assistants that includes her staff, her family, and well-connected friends.
Lederer's daughter Marco Howard-smart and hip-reads Mom's column in the Boston Globe . "And if she doesn't like my answer to a particular question," says Lederer, "she'll call and say, 'I thought you were out to lunch today.'" Then there's the granddaughter in Minneapolis, the granddaughter in New York, and the grandson in California‹all extremely bright and perceptive, of course‹who read and call and keep Grandma on track. Most important is Lederer's list of friends, a Who's Who roll call, and it is these folks she has so brilliantly relied upon since Day One.

Ann Landers
Advice columnist
Few Iowans become household names. Sioux City's Ann Landers was one. She was born on the Fourth of July in 1918, along with sister Abigail Van Buren, also an advice columnist. The two were friendly rivals; they also had feuds. The parents of the identical twins were Abe and Becky Friedman, Russian Jewish immigrants who settled in Sioux City. Abe, a peddler, later became a theater owner. Landers came into the world as Esther Pauline, nicknamed "Eppie." Her sister was named Pauline Esther, called "Po-Po" for short. Eppie and Po-Po were outgoing and precocious. With brilliant blue eyes and coal-black hair, they were always the center of attention. They graduated from Central High School, then attended Morningside College, dropping out to marry. Three rabbis did the honors at the lavish double wedding, with 750 guests and crowds of spectators. Eppie became the wife of salesman Jules Lederer of Detroit, a millinery buyer who later developed many other business interests, such as Budget Rent-a-Car.

http://www.chiprowe.com/articles/ann.html
ChipRowe.com Ann Landers Gets Happy Chip: Ann, what is happiness? Ann: Some people find great happiness in misery. You know about those people? Chip: I've read about them, sure. Ann: But you want to know who our heroes will be, things like that? Chip: Yes, start with that. Ann: We used to have heroes from literature, or medicine, or this sort of thing. During the next decade it's going to be television stars. Chip: Television stars? Ann: This is what people are looking at. Sports figures, rock stars, musicians. Chip: I've been hearing about America's return to simple values. What do you make of that? Ann: Chip: Of course. Ann: I'm talking about high rollers like Michael Milken, these big rip-off guys. Chip: Yet he went to jail. Did that teach us a lesson? Ann: I don't know. They still admire him as the guy who made $550 million in one year. Chip: You don't make that much with your column [laugh]. Ann: Well, not this year [doesn't laugh]. Conversation continues with Ann's observations on marriage, consumerism, etc. Chip: Any other thoughts?

60. Landers
CHICAGO (AP) ann landers, the columnist whose snappy, plainspoken and timely Behind the Face the Judeo-Masonic Cryptocracy that created ann landers
http://www.faem.com/maguire/landers.htm
23 June 2002 "ZOG's Big Sister is Dead?" "CHICAGO (AP) - Ann Landers, the columnist whose snappy, plainspoken and timely advice helped millions of readers deal with everything from birth to death, died Saturday. She was 83. The death of Landers, whose real name was Esther Lederer, was announced by the Chicago Tribune, publisher of her column. She died less than two weeks before her July 4 birthday." Let's stop the press here for a minute. This event is a seminal moment for modern day Judeo-Masonic America. It's more important than the passing of almost all Presidents and certainly any member of Congress in the last 30 years. Psychologists and public opinion researchers have a wide consensus that for the last half-century 'Ann Landers' has been the single most influential force on the American mind, and especially the American female mind. So who was this person? How did she come to be? What were her origins? What formed her biologically and mentally? What opened the doors that she entered?. Who is Ann Landers?
