THE MINISTER OF PITCH (6 42 ) 1988 Tim Perkis composer Tim Perkis performersJohn Bischoff, Scot Greshamlancaster, Phil Stone, chris Brown, Tim Perkis.
http://www.artifact.com/hub.html
The HUB
THE HUB is a computer music band whose members are all designers and builders of their own hardware and software instruments. The group electronically coordinates the activity of their individual systems through a central micro-computer, The Hub itself, as well as manually through ears, eyes, and hands. THE HUB IS: JOHN BISCHOFF, TIM PERKIS, CHRIS BROWN, SCOT GRESHAM-LANCASTER, ... PHIL STONE
Tracks:
The Hub originally came about as a way to clean up a mess. John Bischoff, Jim Horton and myself played for several years in a group called The League of Automatic Music Composers, the first microcomputer network band. Every time we rehearsed, a compli-cated set of ad-hoc connections between computers had to be made. This made for a system with rich and varied behavior, but it was prone to failure, and bringing in other players was difficult. Later we sought a way to open the process up, to make it easier for other musicians to play in the network situation. The result was the Hub, a small computer dedicated to passing messages between players. It serves as a common memory, keeping information about each player's activity that is accessible to the other players' computers. I see the aesthetic informing this work perhaps counter to other trends in computer music: instead of attempting to gain more complete control over every aspect of the music, we seek more surprise through the lively and unpredictable response of these systems, and hope to encourage an active response to surprise in the playing. And instead of trying to eliminate the imperfect human performer, we try to use the electronic tools available to enhance the social aspect of music making.

Johann Jacob Winterheimer

Johann Jacob was born Oct. 8, 1702. He married Anna Margarethe Friesen Feb.8, 1728. She was a daughter of Heinrich F. Friesen of Essenheim. They emigrated to America from Rotterdam in 1742 and arrived in Philadephia with their 6 children Sep.3, 1742. Jacob, as he was known, took out a warrant for 115 acres of land in Martick township along the Beber(Beaver creek) near the present town of New Providence. A year later Jacob and wife had their seventh child, the only one born in America, named Christopher.
Jacob died in 1785 and was survived by his wife and all of his children. He is possibly buried in the Eckman-Kunkle graveyard, not far from the Pequa Reformed(now Zion) church.

71. Match Report - Lancaster City Vs Boston Utd

Lancaster City 3-1 Pilgrims
Unibond League
The second half was fairly even with both sides having good chances. Simon Bailey came on for Paul Cavell for the last twenty-five minutes and again looked lively and dangerous. Chris Aiken soon replaced Danny Marshall and Chris Withe now pushed forward more. As well as often being the target of crosses on the break he also saw a long range shot hit the bar. With ten minutes left Lancaster nearly went further ahead. A long ball down the middle saw Chris Aiken outwitted in a one against one tussle with Lancaster's No. 12, leaving him a clear run at goal. Fortunately Paul Bastock showed once again what a good shot stopper he is. Chris Cook came on for Len Curtis for the last five minutes, just in time to see Lancaster clinch the match with a goal from Graham TAYLOR. The only booking of the game occurred when Andrew Stanhope made a poorly timed tackle near the end of the match. So another season is almost over and who knows what next season will bring. We will certainly need to score a few more goals if we are to be serious promotion contenders and it is probably time that youth started to replace some of the more senior members of the team. With two "northern" clubs being relegated from the Conference it is not even certain that we will be in the Unibond League next season. We may be forced into the Dr. Martens League where we could be up against old rivals such as King's Lynn and newly promoted Grantham Town and Ilkeston Town.

http://www.tucsonastronomy.org/pisces.html
Pisces by Chris Lancaster Although this constellation is one of the prominent ones of the zodiac, it can be easily over looked because it has no star brighter than 3rd magnitude. It represents two fish, one beneath Andromeda, and the other below Pegasus. They are joined to each other at Alpha Piscium and thus form a skinny "V" pattern pointing toward the southeast. Currently, the easiest way to find Pisces is to look to Jupiter high in the south during the mid-evening hours. The planet starts off just east of Pisces at the beginning of the month, moves into the "V" on November 9th when it will be 8.5 arc minutes from Omicron Piscium, and continues its retrograde motion deeper into the constellation throughout the month. The ancient Babylonians, Persians, Romans, Greeks, and Turks all saw fish in this group of stars. One story depicts Aphrodite and her son Eros who jumped into a river to escape a giant named Typhon. They turned into fish and swam away. So that they wouldn't be separated, they tied their tails together with a cord. In fact, the Alpha star mentioned above is named Alrisha, Arabic for "knot" or "cord." South of the Great Square of Pegasus is the circlet of stars marking the head of the western fish. Seven stars make up the circlet, and the one which stands out from the others is the variable star TX Piscium (also designated 19 Piscium), the eastern most star of this group. It varies slightly from magnitude 5.5 to 6.0, but one look at it will show that what makes it special is its color. Although it doesn't have a catchy nickname like the Crimson Star in Lepus or the Garnet Star in Cepheus, its red color is no less striking. Try using the different color sensitivities of your retina by looking directly at it, and then to the side. You should notice that its color is rich when in the center of your vision, and then fades to a lighter pink or almost white as you move your gaze away from it.

Cepheus by Chris Lancaster This constellation crosses the meridian at 9pm during the middle of October and can be found in the northern sky between the cross shaped constellation of Cygnus and the "W" pattern of Cassiopeia. Its boundaries stretch all the way to Polaris, the north star, so since it is situated so near the pole, most of the constellation remains above the horizon at all times. Even its most southerly stars rise again no more than 4 hours after setting. Cepheus was king of an ancient land in northern Africa with Cassiopeia as his queen. These two in addition to their daughter Andromeda form a family portrait of sorts in the sky, all sitting side by side in the area of the heavens north of +30 degrees declination and between 21h and 2h RA. In 1784, John Goodricke discovered that Delta Cephei, in the extreme southern part of the constellation, exhibited variations in brightness which modern studies have precisely measured to be 5.366341 days. The variability results from an actual pulsation of the star rather than other phenomena like eclipses or outbursts. A multitude of these pulsating stars in the Milky Way and other galaxies have since been discovered, and are all called Cepheid variables after this star. This stellar class is very important to Astronomers since the period of pulsation, which generally ranges from a few hours for the dimmest Cepheids to as long as 50 days for the brightest ones, correlates to the star's luminosity. Thus, Cepheid variables can be used as accurate measuring sticks for determining distances to other galaxies when the period and apparent magnitude of these stars are known.

While researching my lineage, I have found that all the spellings of my surname origin began in Lancaster, SC. My grandfather was Willie Phillip William Couser. His wife was Martha Mackey. Also, My mother was Jessie Harris and her mother birth name was Dora Massey. According to recorded records their origin is Lancaster County, SC. I have found some African American with all spellings in the census records. I think I have trace the Massey side of my family to the slave owner. However, at time time my priotity is to fine the parents and siblings of my grandfather. My father, Willie Cousar, stated that Grandfather was Cherokee. But, the 1920 Census stated that he was Mullato. He died when I was about 6 years old. My father died before I started my research. When both my brothers died, I begin my research. I was raised with my fathers mother family. Please send the birth and death dates of your grandmother and great grandparents and any other information that you may have.

Lancaster's New Chancellor
SIR Christian (Chris) Bonington CBE, is to be Lancaster University’s new Chancellor; he has certainly had a fascinating life and to even attempt to write a biography of him in one column or even taking up the entire edition of SCAN would be an insult to his incredible achievements. However a short summary is certainly in order for this is the gentleman who will be awarding Lancaster students with their degrees as of next year, following his unopposed nomination at University Court. Chris Bonington was born in 1934 in Hampstead and spent some of his education at the Royal Military Academy in Sandhurst. He joined the Royal Tank Regiment in 1956. After three years stationed in North Germany he went on to be a mountaineering instructor at the Army Outward Bound School and began climbing the Alps. In 1958 he made the first British ascent of the Pillar of the Drus and in 1961 climbed the Central Pillar of the Freny on the South side of Mont Blanc. He spent nine months with Unilever, who’s current vice-chairperson is actually an alumnus of Lancaster University. But realising that a normal career would prevent him from pursuing the mountaineering he loves so much Chris gave up the Unilever job. Taking a leaf from his wife Wendy’s book, Chris Bonington went freelance (Wendy illustrates children’s books) and began doing photography and writing about mountaineering.
