    Riding the Crests at 90
When he was eight years old, Bob Keller set out to ride the crests of Atlantic waves. His first homemade surfboard failed because the wood was simply too heavy. Not easily deterred, Keller experimented with adhesives and what would today be called composites and engineered wood, eventually crafting and selling surfboards as a teenager.
In the intervening decades, Keller has traded the thrill of surfing waves for that of riding the crests of breaking technologies. Today, he is recognized as a pioneer in adhesive assembly, composites, and shaped, engineered wood.
Because his ideas were often decades ahead of their time, Keller has sometimes had to wait for the world to catch up. More than 55 years ago, for example, he began to market Kalwall—or "Keller's aluminum wall"—to provide translucent daylighting in buildings. Today, because these strong, lightweight panels are also energy-efficient, easy to install, and affordable, they constitute nothing less than a revolutionary building system for a new era of "green" construction. The Kalwall Corporation is thriving in Manchester, New Hampshire.
In 1965, Keller began to focus exclusively on research, his true passion. And his patient investigations have recently delivered another win: his company was the first to introduce a daylighting panel filled with aerogel material. It's 99.8 percent air, 1,000 times less dense than glass, and provides far more thermal insulation than fiberglass, effectively doubling the insulation value of Kalwall panels. This significantly reduces heating and cooling costs as well as the dependence on imported, polluting, or dangerous energy sources.

JAMES 'LEWIS'(5) 1812-1868 James was born February 05, 1812 in probably in Frederick Co., VA, though Census data gives his birth as Ohio. The Harris book misplaced James as the probable son of William, the son of William S. and Catherine Rinker. This is incorrect; that William did not marry until 1825. It is now believed that James is, rather, the son of William S. and his second wife, Ann McCool. This belief includes the view that James is the son Lewis mentioned in William's will of 1839. This Lewis is never found but James is listed in 3 consecutive Censuses of Allen Co. from 1840. It could be that the name Lewis is a misinterpretation on the cursive James, or that his name was James Lewis. The confusion over his place of birth stems from the timing of the move of William S and Ann from Frederick Co., VA to Warren Co., OH. It also stems from the conflicts with the date of birth given for James and that given for his brother John. This placement is not however proven, it is only probable. It should also be noted that Harris lists a son Joseph born ca 1837, but this listing is somewhat in doubt. Joseph does not appear in the 1850 Census at age 13, nor in any Census after. The next son, William Hugh, is born 14 months after the marriage of James.
