Many of these performers were, like Hope, recent immigrants to America who saw a vaudeville career as one of the few ways to succeed as a "foreigner" in America. Throughout his extraordinary professional career of nearly seventy years, Bob Hope practiced the arts he learned in vaudeville and perpetuated variety entertainment traditions in stage musical comedy, motion pictures, radio, television, and the live appearances he made around the world in support of American armed forces. Today, the stage variety show is mostly a memory but its influence is pervasive thanks to the long and rich careers of vaudeville veterans like Bob Hope. A personal word from
Founder Bob Hoskins
Dear Friend, This ministry was born out of a time of fasting and prayer and over the past years that has been the key to touching so many lives with miraculous power of God's Word. We are calling on the friends of this ministry once again to make the sacrifice and commit to praying for the children at least one day a week and fasting one meal or more, as God directs, each month. We now know that Satan's #1 target for destruction is the children and youth of the world. It is the most vital battleground and can only be won through fasting and prayer. As we partner together by spreading God's Word to those who are the most open
and susceptible to truth, backed by the prayers of His people, this will be a year of

Bob's Biography
For a man who played third billing to Siamese twins and trained seals, Bob Hope has become the most recognized profile and talent in the world. And, in the entire history of show business, no individual has traveled so far so often to entertain so many. Hope's entertainment persona has been evident in every decade of the 20th century from impersonating Charlie Chaplin in front of the firehouse in Cleveland in 1909, to celebrating an unprecedented 60 years with NBC in 1996. The fifth of seven sons, he was born Leslie Townes Hope in Eltham, England on May 29, 1903. His English father, William Henry Hope, was a stonemason his Welsh mother, Avis Townes Hope, an aspiring concert singer. In 1907, Leslie's father brought the family to Cleveland, Ohio. In 1920, by virtue of his father's naturalization, 'Bob' the name by which the world would later know him and his brothers became US citizens. (Bob Jokes, "I left England at the age of four when I found out I couldn't be king.")

THE USO TOURS In 1941 (during the height of the second World War), Bob Hope brought an extravagant USO show to March Field in California - showcasing top Hollywood performers and dancing bathing beauties for the battlefield-bound troops. An overseas tour for combat troops followed. One memorable show was done impromptu on a tree stump for the marines that were headed for Guadalcanal - the next day, most of the boys in that audience were killed in that infamous, bloody battle.
