Kenny Loggins and Earthtrust
"Please, make a commitment to get informed and get involved.
It's only with your continuing concern and support
that whale and dolphins will not just survive but thrive,
as the living orchestra of a vital and vibrant sea."
Kenny Loggins Kenny Loggins has long been one of the music world's most ardent and eloquent spokespersons for wildlife conservation. It's only natural, then, that Kenny has also been a part of Earthtrust for many years, and is a member of Earthtrust's International Advisory Board.
Kenny has participated in a variety of Earthtrust ventures, including Be sure to check out Kenny Loggin's WWW page.
Kenny Loggins Sings for the Dolphins
In 1992, Kenny Loggins teamed up with Earthtrust researchers to conduct a unique experiment at Earthtrust's dolphin intelligence research lab in Hawaii. This is how Kenny described his experience: This was the first time I'd ever had a chance to share my music so directly with another species. No one had ever played live music for these dolphins. When they had played recorded music, the dolphins didn't respond at all.

News 5/20/2004 - I would like to be able to tell you that I have been working on redesigning my website. Unfortunately, there are so many things going on in my life right now that working on my website is just not possible. I will leave my site in place for those who wish to visit. If I find the time, I will try to work on it. I have plenty of ideas for redesigning, I just do not have the time. I do appreciate you taking the time to visit. Thank you.

125. Kenny Baker
Transcript of a talk given by Baker about filming Star Wars.

Kenny Baker
On Tuesday the 7th of March 1995, Kenny Baker, the innards of R2D2 in STAR WARS was our guest and took part in a question and answer session with the group. He also starred in TIME BANDITS as one of a gang of inept time travelling plunderers. Kenny has been a guest once before in March, 1990, when we were last in the same venue (although it was called The Bodega then). Kenny has had a long and interesting career in TV, theatre and films. In the sixties he was in a TV film called MAN OF THE WORLD and since then has worked with nearly all comedians. Some of these are; Dicky Henderson, Lesley Crowther, Ken Dodd (as a Diddyman), Little and Large, Russ Abbot, Ben Elton, Dick Emery and Dave Allen. He has also been on 3,2,1 and Opportunity Knocks. Kenny has even met Laurel and Hardy. His film career really took off with STAR WARS but he had been in film prior to this, called CIRCUS OF HORRORS. The first STAR WARS film was made in 1977 and they had some location work to do in the desert. They went to Tunisia, where the mornings are bitterly cold and the afternoons scorching hot. There were also fierce sandstorms which caused many problems. Luckily Kenny was better off than Antony Daniels who played C3-P0 (the golden one). It took an hour for Daniels to get into his suit and the heat was unbearable in all that plastic. Kenny, on the other hand had a seat in R2-D2 and was not in contact with the walls at all. He also had a nice breeze blowing in from the bottom, and the white surface seemed to reflect the heat.

MUSICIANS
KENNY WHEELER
Although resident in England since 1952 and often thought to be an English musician, Kenny Wheeler was born in Canada in 1930. He began playing in his hometown of St. Catherines, encouraged by his father, a trombonist. His formal studies include composition with Rodney Bennett and William Russo. His earliest influences included Buck Clayton and Roy Eldrige but, by the time he left for London, he was looking towards bebop, Miles Davis and Fats Navarro particularly.
After his arrival in London, Wheeler balanced commercial dance band work with gigs alongside modernists like Joe Harriott and Ronnie Scott, and in 1959 joined the Johnny Dankworth band in time for their breakthrough Newport Jazz Festival appearance. He consequently came to be one of the major solo voices in the Dankworth orchestra, and during the end of his stay recorded his first album as a leader Windmill Tilter (Fontana), which featured compositions for big band based on Cervantes’ Don Quixote stories.
In 1966, a chance encounter with drummer John Stevens at the Little Theatre Club in London set Wheeler on a new course. To the surprise of many musicians of his generation, the trumpeter became deeply involved in free music and joined both Stevens’ Spontaneous Music Ensemble and the Tony Oxley group.

Iverson takes his game where few have gone
Click here for more on this story Posted: Wednesday May 16, 2001 7:21 PM Updated: Thursday May 17, 2001 1:55 AM Allen Iverson was completely deserving of the NBA's Most Valuable Player award. In my opinion, the criteria of the award signifies the player who:
  • If he were removed from his team, the team's ability to contend would change drastically
  • Has leadership skills that take his teammates to a higher level
  • Has on-the-court skills that measure statistically, as well as in the win column
  • Commands a double team on the defensive end Iverson encompasses all of the above. The other candidates had a great year as well, however, no one player has put a team on his back the way Iverson has. Indiana's Jalen Rose may have said it best. When you think of
