Home L'esorcista: riflessioni sparse (dal NG cinema) L'esorcista e' uno dei pochi film che, da piccino, mi spaventavano a morte. Pensavo che visto al cinema il film 'funzionasse' in modo ancora maggiore, che fosse ancora più terrificante invece... invece non ho mai sentito ridere così tanto ! Alla proiezione cui ho assistito (cinema gremito, eta media 14-15 anni..) ad ogni scena forte si scatenevano ilarità esagerate e battutine idiote, manco fosse riposseduta o l'esorciccio ( unica eccezione la scena del crocifisso: lì l'imbarazzo si tagliava col coltello...:)) sono capitato in cinema pieno di idioti o e' un fenomeno comune? forse non bisogna andare più al cinema di sabato sera....comunque ottimo il sonoro (ad eccezione del doppiaggio che mi sembra non sia stato ritoccato) e non eccezionali le scene aggiunte (anzi...), specialmente il finale... L'esorcista - L'ESORCISTA di William Friedkin - WILLIAM FRIEDKIN Alcune personali notazioni sulla cosiddetta versione "director's cut" dell'Esorcista: - nella prima parte le scene aggiunte ambientate all'ospedale risultano interessanti in quanto costituiscono il primo gradino di un climax crescente di tensione che avvolge tutto il film - l'ormai celebre scena della camminata "a ragno", sebbene alquanto fugace, o forse proprio per questo, rappresenta un bel tocco di virtuosismo.

This is not the case, in either concept or execution. THE EXORCIST INTRODUCTION "The Exorcist" est un film à part dans le cinéma fantastique, voir dans le cinéma d'horreur. Très éloigné des films sanguinolents ou violents, il n'en reste pas mois l'un des films les plus dérangeants et marquants du genre. Je laisse bien sûr de côté les scènes de la pauvre Regan faisant faire 180° à sa tête, ou vomissant une infâme bouilli sur ses interlocuteurs - sans parler de son language peu chatié :-)). Non, surtout, c'est l'attachement aux personnages, et surtout à celui du prêtre, qui sont forts. On reconnait dans Freidkin le réalisateur de "French Connection". Les personnages évoluent dans un milieu gris, assez sombre. La première partie du film est comme le prologue d'un livre. Donc, nous le considérerons comme tel. Ce prologue a une situation , car il met en scène un personnage, l'Exorciste, qui ne réapparaîtra qu'à la fin du film. On se rend compte au générique de fin que son rôle n'est en fait que secondaire. C'est le prêtre et la mère de Regan qui sont les personnages centraux. Alors, pourquoi traîter de lui dans le prologue ? C'est parce qu'en fait, il n'est qu'un symbole, ou plutôt un pion, dans la lutte éternelle du Bien contre le Mal. C'est cette lutte qui est traitée dans ce prologue. Lutte intemporalisée dans ce prologue, à l'exemple des 3 couchers de soleil qui structure ce prologue, au début, au milieu et à la fin. PROLOGUE Le sigle Warner laisse place à un écran noir. Un fond sonore assez stressant commence. En grosses lettres apparaissent l'un après l'autre les noms de Williams Friedkin (Réalisateur) et W.P.Blatty(Auteur du livre). Puis surgit brutalement en grosses lettres le titre "The Exorcist". Au même moment débute un chant arabe traditionnel. Le mot "Exorcist", qui fait appel à une liturgie catholique occidentale fait contraste avec la musique orientale. Le mélange plonge dans une ambiance empreinte de mystères et de mysticisme. Mais surtout, les deux éléments sont les premiers indices d'intemporalité. En effet, l'exorcisme est une très vieille pratique, c'est le symbole du combat éternel entre le bien et le mal. Quand au chant, c'est son caractère traditionnelle qui lui donne cette intemporalité. Le titre disparait en fondu au noir. L'écran reste sombre quelques secondes pendant que le son continue. Ca peut se ressentir comme à une plongée dans les ténèbres.

Abbiamo un regista di lungo corso come William Friedkin ("L'esorcista", "Il braccio violento della legge", "Il salario della paura"), un veterano carismatico come Tommy Lee Jones ("Il fuggitivo", i due " Men in Black ") e uno degli ultimi talenti di Hollywood come Benicio del Toro (" I soliti sospetti ", " Traffic "). Per quello che vale oggigiorno, sono anche tutti premi Oscar. Ma il risultato finale di questo "The Hunted" è veramente sconcertante. L.T. Bonham (Jones) è un esperto di sopravvivenza in pensione che ha passato la vita a lavorare per l'esercito addestrando reclute dei corpi speciali. Uno dei suoi allievi è stato Aaron Hallam (Del Toro), abilissimo e letale soldato, decorato in Kosovo, che non ha però retto al peso delle sue sanguinose azioni ed è impazzito, macchiandosi di efferati omicidi. Naturalmente l'unico in grado di fermarlo è il suo ex-insegnante, richiamato dall'FBI per un'ultima "caccia all'uomo"... In tanta confusione, Tommy Lee Jones è rassicurante e sofferente al punto giusto, in un'evoluzione disillusa del cacciatore tenace, ruolo in cui sembra essersi specializzato negli ultimi dieci anni. Benicio Del Toro è in uno stato perpetuo di pacata follia, e avrebbe potuto sicuramente rendere meglio se il suo personaggio non fosse stato mutilato a quel modo. A woman with a swollen body in a weary cotton nightgown, an old gray-haired bathrobed man with a cane Wheel chairs, oxygen tanks. It looks so real you can almost smell carbolic, feel that clutch of fear and sadness you get in a hospital, and you think of the Dostoevsky line about how the only thing the well can say to the sick is "Forgive us and let us pass." Suddenly the doors at the head of the corridor fly open, two people crash through: Jason Miller, playing Father Damien Karras, Titos Vandis, playing his uncle. They stride down the hall and director William Friedkin, riding a camera mounted on a rolling platform, retreats before them like General Patton in a tank, or a jubilant kid on a fire truck. Billy Friedkin's a happy man. He's a moviemaker and this is where he wants to be.

Sur la version originale (1973) et la nouvelle version (2000) Un anti- director's cut , voilà ce qu'est cette nouvelle mouture de The Exorcist . Deux ans auparavant, dans le passionnant documentaire The Fear of God : The Making of The Exorcist , William Friedkin était pourtant clair : The Exorcist , tel qu'il était lors de sa parution originale, hormis quelques scènes rejetées pour des raisons techniques, était sa version, définitive et personnelle. Comment expliquer alors, moins de deux ans plus tard, cette nouvelle version qui va à l'encontre de ses propos sur le film ? Cette version a-t-elle été approuvée par Friedkin ? Il y a lieu d'en douter. Cela ressemble beaucoup plus à l'intervention de William Peter Blatty afin de faire de L'Exorciste un film conforme à sa propre conception et à l'orientation qu'il voulait lui donner.
