"Floater (Too Much to Ask) besvärar lyssnaren med dålig entonig sång. "High Water (For Charley Parker) är Dylans hyllning till de gamla mästarna. Persongalleriet i texten påminner om amerikansk musiks hall of fame. Låten är väldigt bra. Albumets bästa rent av. Kanske får den liv efter albumet också? "Moonlight" kommer däremot aldrig få luft under vingarna. En ointressant text till en jazzballad. Inte vidare lyckat. "Honest With Me" är något så ovanligt som en lyckad rocklåt i "Highway 61 Revisited" stil. Låten har pondus. Musikaliskt bäst på hela albumet. En klar live låt som kommer få långt liv i Dylans setlista. Gillar man inte musikformen så är låten monoton och aningen för lång. "Po Boy" innehåller bra gitarrspel, bra sång men är tråkig. "Cry a While" är ytterligare ett misslyckat försök att göra sofistikerad musik. Hör hellre på "Mr Bojangels" från "Dylan" albumet. Avslutande "Sugar Baby" är så intetsägande att man glömmer låten innan albumet snurrat färdigt i CD spelaren. "Mycket väsen för ingenting" eller "Kejsarens nya kläder" är rubriker som skulle passa utmärkt på denna recension. "Love and Theft" är sämre än "Slow Train Coming", " Planet Waves" eller "Oh Mercy". "Infidels" från 1985 är ett storverk i jämförelse med de senaste årens produktion. Att Dylan ser ut som en Willy DeVille wanna-be på omslaget gör inte saken bättre. Om detta är ett bättre album än artistens förra kan verkligen diskuteras. Inget av dem är dock något som kommer att gå till historien. Dylan försöker numera framstå som "Mr American Music", har han inte missuppfattat sin roll? Det är när mannen skriver om sitt eget livsöde han berör. Dylan är den ende ur sin generation som kan vara självcentrerad och beröra. Det är hans bidrag till konsten. Musikern Dylan är som allra bäst ointressant. När han då gör ett album där musiken talar är det ett dåligt album.

Kulttuuritalo 1969 ~ Blind Faith's Performance Located in central Helsinki, Finland, Kulttuuritalo is a small concert hall designed by Alvar Aalto, seating about 1300. The hall has excellent acoustics for rock gigs. Lots of world stars have performed in this hall over the years: Ella Fitzgerald and Oscar Peterson Trio, Count Basey, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Dizzie Gillespie, B B King , Spencer Davis Group, Jimi Hendrix, Cream, Traffic, Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Fleetwood Mac, Ten Years After, Jethro Tull, Led Zeppelin, Steppenwolf, Mott the Hoople, Zappa, Weather Report, Rory Gallagher, Queen, Camel etc. Blind Faith played at Kulttuuritalo on June 12, 1969. They gave two performances and the shows were only half-full as the summer vacations had just started and students and other young people were out of town. The first press releases were advertising the gigs by New Cream (Clapton, Baker, Winwood, but as the date came closer the name was changed to Blind Faith Recollections: Blind Faith in Helsinki The first gig of the Scandinavian Tour 1969 The first Blind Faith performance started at 8 pm and the second at 10 pm and the gigs were not sold out. Support band was Babylon, a British nine-piece jazz-soul group with a horn section and a male and a female singer. The band was pretty powerful and their set included Spinning Wheel from Blood, Sweat and Tears.

BOB DYLAN Love and theft (Columbia/Sony) Betyg: 8/10 Golden Chords hette bandet som Bob Dylan lirade med i februari 1958 och vid tävlingen i Hibbing Memorial Building hade dom inte en chans. Det skulle vara jazz och man var, enligt Dylan själv, tvungen att spela polkor. Min pappa var knappt fyra år då Golden Chords rockade skiten ur föräldrar och lärare på den där talangjakten och Bob ville göra revolt. Revolt mot vad som ansågs normalt och anständigt. Han ville göra det ingen annan vågade. Och det har han fortsatt med. Under årens lopp har han skitit fullständigt i vad som ligger i tiden och vad folk förväntat sig och velat ha. Nej, det ska vara bluegrass från 20-talet. Typ ju. Inför Love and theft har alla hoppats på en ny Time Out Of Mind. Och det skulle inte förvåna mig om Dylan varit medveten om det. Medveten om att han faktiskt gjorde ett chef-d'oeuvre för fyra år sen, i alla fall ett stycke mästerverk för dom som trodde sig veta. Och att han backstage på sina oändliga turnéer, nu har gnuggat händerna och rosslat hö hö hö, nu ska dom allt få. Nu ska dom få revolt. Men egentligen tror jag inte på min teori. Han skiter ju som sagt i vad folk tycker. Och om du fortfarande hoppas på en ny Time Out Of Mind kan du gå och lägga dig. Här har Bob Dylan än en gång bara gjort vad som fallit honom in.
