The paper says it is putting up the reward in the hope that someone will come forward with a vital clue in the hunt for the person who murdered the BBC television presenter. Ms Dando, 37, was shot in the head on the doorstep of her home in Fulham, west London, on 26 April. Police are still following up leads in their hunt for her killer. The BBC's Tony Morris: "The money may provide an incentive" The Daily Mail announced the reward on its front page on Thursday, and said it had taken the "unusual decision" after "lengthy consultation" with the family and senior Metropolitan Police officers involved in the case. It said it had the full backing of the Dando family, and quoted Ms Dando's brother Nigel as saying: "I am very pleased about the Daily Mail's positive action and hope it will lead to the arrest and conviction of whoever is responsible for my sister's murder." The Metropolitan police force introduced the new reviewing procedure after the failure to bring the killers of black teenager Stephen Lawrence to justice. Detective Chief Superintendent Barry Webb, 45, will question detectives on possible leads and examine records of decisions taken. His team of 44 detectives was one of three set up in April to look at murders unsolved after 28 days, with the Dando murder the most high-profile case under review. The broadcaster was buried on Friday in Weston-super-Mare Mr Webb is the second high-ranking officer to have re-examined the Dando case since it failed to make an early breakthrough. Detective Chief Superintendent Brian Edwards replaced Detective Chief Inspector Hamish Campbell as senior investigating officer of the case within a fortnight of Miss Dando, 37, being killed by a single shot to the head on her doorstep in Fulham, west London. Detective Chief Inspector Hamish Campbell, the man leading the inquiry, said a bus driver has come forward since an E-fit picture of the suspect was released. The bus driver believes that he took the man four stops from Fulham Palace Road to Putney Bridge tube station, where police inquiries are now being focused. Each one has their own perspective, our own personal memories of that life. For one she was a daughter, for another a sister, for another a fiancee. I first met Jill in 1979 when I became minister of Milton Baptist Church. Jill was at the sixth form college. In her second year there she was elected as Head Girl. Even then she was popular amongst her peers. At the church she was secretary of the Young People's Fellowship, a post which she fulfilled with cheerful efficiency which was to mark all she did thereafter. I remember well the first Youth Weekend which she and the leaders had planned together. The 40 or so young people had been divided into groups and given a parable which they were to act out in modern form on the Saturday evening.

There is said to be nothing less certain in life than taxes and death. Of the two, death is certainly the least pleasant. Especially when a death is caused by violence or other unforeseen or unexpected circumstances.
