The Mark Rutherford Letters

Introduction
The collection comprises 43 letters from William Hale White to Erica Storr and one to her mother. The letters date from the years 1905-1912. William Hale White (1831-1913) lived at Groombridge, Kent, from 1903 until his death in March 1913. Erica Storr was born about 1878. In 1907 she married A.D.Lindsay, later Master of Balliol College, Oxford, and first principal of University College of North Staffordshire. The letters were presented to the University of Sussex Library in 1967 by Lady Scott, the daughter of Erica Storr.
