The stories collected in The Claim Jumpers (1901) and The Blazed Trail (1902) reflect his own adventures in the Black Hills gold rush and in a Michigan lumber camp, respectively. His ambitious trilogy, The Story of California (1927), consists of three historical novels, Gold (1913), The Gray Dawn (1915), and The Rose Dawn (1920). CAROTHERS There are several families of Carothers spelled any number of different ways Carruthers, Caruthers, Crothers, Crowthers, etc. Most of them connect somewhere. I am only going to deal with that branch to which my husband belongs. However, I have collected quite a bit of material on other branches of the family and will be glad to try to answer queries. I will not always be successful, but I am happy to try. The earliest part of this line I have not personally verified. It was originally researched by John Franklin Carothers at the turn of the century. At this time, this material is generally accepted by researchers following this line. 92.
    http://amen.net/lb/articulos/espiritismo.htm
