This branch of the Walker family tree originates in Corstorphine, MidLothian (west Edinburgh) in 1600, moves to Leven, Fife (south of St Andrews) in 1770, and then emigrates to Melbourne, Australia, in 1854. If you find connections from your Family Tree to this Family Tree I would be most appreciative of a copy of a GEDCOM file to add your information into my own data. Some detail from the last 50 years has been has been trimmed from this Tree but can be made available if required. Details of other Walkers born in Scotland between 1600 and 1850 can be found here

    http://parishes.oxford.anglican.org/puseyhouse/archive.htm
The Archives of Pusey House HE ARCHIVE contains extensive material on the Tractarians and the Oxford Movement, the records of a number of Anglo-Catholic societies and monastic orders; letters and papers of numerous notable Anglican churchmen as well as memorabilia of Pusey himself. There is an unrivalled collection of theological and ecclesiastical controversial pamphlets from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The manuscripts at Pusey House are almost all of the 19th and 20th centuries, and include, in addition to the records of the House itself, the papers of many important figures, organisations and societies connected with the Oxford Movement. The nucleus is an extensive number of papers collated, transcribed and, sometimes, bound for Henry Parry Liddon for his Life of Pusey , the manuscript of which is also held. Some of the autograph material which Liddon transcribed and returned to its owners has now been lost which lends the transcriptions an added importance. The Ollard papers comprise a significant collection. S. L. Ollard was a church historian and a canon of Windsor. His papers include his correspondence with, among others, W. H. Hutton, dean of Winchester, letters and manuscripts of major figures of the Oxford Movement - R. W. Church (including part of the manuscript of his History of the Oxford Movement ); W. J. Copeland's

Alexander Douglas I Alexander Douglas II Reverend Alexander Douglas Alexander Douglas II, son of Alexander Douglas I and Mary Stapleton Douglas was born 27 October 1807 in Lancaster County, South Carolina. He married Margaret Tirzah Cowsar in 1835 in Lancaster County. They removed in 1837 to Talladega County, Alabama with other Cowsars and Douglases . He was converted to Methodism in the Great Revival and in 1843 in Alabama , he was licensed as a local Methodist preacher by the Fourth Quarterly Conference and named among the leading men in the Talladega Circuit during years 1833-1845. He arrived in Tyler, Texas by January of 1848 where he engaged in the real estate sale of newly created town lots of Tyler . He also operated the first livery stable, a hotel, several stage lines and carried the U.S. Mail. He engaged his two oldest son, James P. and John B. in these concerns. Douglas and his family were among the charter members of the present Marvin Methodist Church. Originally operated under the name of Methodist Episcopal Church South. All-Faith Services were held at first in a log cabin on the town square; later in Adam's Blacksmith Shop, south of the square. The church was organized by Douglas and Sam Box.

    Tidbits and Tall Tales
    From: Bill Galloway Generation 1:
Elizabeth McCulloch (surname is unclear on the document), married William Laurie and they had a daughter Mary, who was born 1847. William Laurie was an agricultural labourer.
William Galloway, also an agricultural labourer married Jane, an Irish lady, who was born circa 1816. They had a son, David born about 1853. Generation 2:
David Galloway married Mary from above. They were married on 28th July 1871. Note that he was 6 years younger than she. By this time, his father, William, and Mary's father, also William were both dead. I have a copy of their marriage entry (page 6 in the Parish of Kirkmaiden marriages, entry number 11). It is from here that I see Mary's
mother's maiden name to be Elizabeth McCulloch. The witnesses included
a name which looks like David McCutchan.
I think that Mary already had a son, Robert born 1869. Since she also went by the name Mary Laurie McDonald, it is possible that this son was by a liaison with a McDonald. The marriage entry records her as a spinster. I do not have proof of Robert's parentage.
After the marriage, Jane was born on 13th October 1871 in Inch, Wigtownshire, in the Galloway area of Scotland. I am awaiting documentation on that birth.
