Traditional Games
Battleship Timothy C. Benner, 1998 Rating: Shareware Screenshot Battleship is, not surprisingly, a version of the popular board game of the same name. You place your ships on a grid, and your opponent (computer, or human) takes turns trying to guess where they are located, while you take turns trying to guess where theirs are. It's a well-made game that works well and has a good "feel" to it.

Crazy Eights Moonlite Software, 1992 Rating:
Shareware Screenshot Crazy Eights is a simple but fun card game. This version pits you against the computer in a 1-vs-1 battle. Unfortunately there is no 2-player mode. However the game is presented in a very slick way, and the computer automatically does some things for you to make the gameplay progress smoothly. Overall a nice-looking, simple card game.

Cribbage Solitaire Justin Somerton Rating:
Freeware (GPL) Screenshot Cribbage Solitaire is a simple text-mode solitaire card game. You play by placing cards one at a time onto a 5x5 grid and tallying up points after you are done. The game is simple and quick to play, so while there are no fancy graphics or sound here it could be fun to play as a brief diversion. (The source code in BASIC is included.) Version 2 adds improved graphics and a high score list.

Introduction

The Irish Traditional Music Archive is a multi-media reference archive and resource centre for the traditional song, music and dance of Ireland. It is a public not-for-profit facility which promotes public education in Irish traditional music through its own activities and its support for the activities of others.
Established in 1987, the Archive is the first body to be exclusively concerned with the making of a comprehensive collection of materials - sound recordings, books, photographs, videos, etc. - for the appreciation and study of Irish traditional music. It now holds the largest such collection in existence, with coverage of the island of Ireland, of areas of Irish settlement abroad (especially in Britain, North America and Australia), and of non-Irish performers of Irish traditional music. A representative collection of the traditional music of other countries is also being made.
The Archive is currently situated at 63 Merrion Square, Dublin 2. It includes public rooms for the study of materials, and an audio and video recording studio. The collections are open to the general public from 10am - 1pm and 2pm - 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Folktales
Origins and Diffusion of Folktales
Theories of Folktale Origin
No one theory listed below has been proved true; probably all of them have some points of validity. Monogenesis ("single origin") Theory:
  • The earliest theory; also called the "Indo-European Myth Theory" or "Aryan Myth Theory".
  • Belief that all folktales were descended from the myths of the Indo-Europeans or Aryans.
    • Indo-Europeans were supposedly ancestral to many races from India west through Europe.
    • Almost all European languages are descended from the Indo-European language; possibly many folktale elements have descended also.
    • Does not take into account similar folktales from other parts of the world.
    Polygenesis ("many origin") Theory:
    • Belief that people everywhere have the same experiences and thus develop the same stories.
    • People in all parts of the world are not alike.
    • Although stories might have originated in similar experiences, it is unlikely that they would be as similar in details as they have proved to be.
    Psychological explanations:
    • Freud believed that folktales arose from our unconscious needs and frustrations, which grew out of our childhood experiences.

Astrology
Christopher Warnock, Esq.
A strology, a spiritual science, is the study of the relationship of the stars and planets to events on Earth. From its origins 4,000 years ago in Egypt and Chaldea, astrology developed into a science of great complexity, capable of detailed and precise predictions.
A strologers and mages like Cornelius Agrippa and Marsilio Ficino brought traditional astrology and astrological magic to their greatest heights in the Renaissance
A strology went out of fashion and into an abrupt decline with the rise of mechanistic science and materialism in the the eighteenth century Enlightenment. When it rose again at the early part of the twentieth century, it was in the guise of psychological astrology, shorn of its ability to predict. CD Library

  • As anyone who visited his site regularly knows, Barry Taylor was not able to maintain his site. When Barry asked me if I wanted to take over his site I could not say no. Barry was not only the person who inspired me to learn about midi, but his site was among the first traditional music midi sites on the web - and his music is incredible. Barry's music has spread throughout the net and I felt it would be shameful for the original to be lost. So I am housing most of Barry's site here.
  • This site will not be updated and there will be no technical support or answers to questions beyond what you can find on the FAQ or ReadMe pages. These pages are here solely to share the love of traditional music and of Barry's music in particular.

Traditional Witchcraft is a nature based religion and has nothing to do with Wicca. Read details on Traditional Witchcraft in plain simple English without any of the fairyness of other sites.
http://www.geocities.com/echo879
Another year, and once again another home move. (Great three bedroom house now in the wilds of surrey.) So time is short and theres a lot I'd like to add, including new things I've learned and want to pass on. Some minor changes have been made to this document as a result. Most of the last year or so has been spent by me contemplating religion and belief and looking at its origin. I strongly suggest that people wishing to become Trad Witches do this as well. Look at where our beliefs originate. Why do we believe a certain thing. Please note that I am a Traditional Witch trained and educated by other Traditional Witches, (Solitaries and a Family Trad,) from the South Coast of England so you may find that my beliefs will understandly differ from others who practice Witchcraft. Please kindly don't send me crappy emails or leave me Guestbook messages telling me Im wrong just because my branch of Witchcraft doesn't adhere to what yours does. Feel free to tell me it differs and how but please don't start ranting and raving. Thank you especially to Sandra who left a wonderful Guest Message showing that some people just don't get the message about free-choice. Sandra please read the following

When the Ottoman soldiers entered "Rumeli," -the european side of Turkey, forty brave men wrestled under the supervision of their commander Suleiman Pacha. Refusing to stop, the wrestlers died wrestling as they exhausted their life force in the match to win. As we can see from its legendary beginnings, the "Kabe" of wrestlers, Kirkpinar has a historical connection with the brave Turkish army. Blessed with the traditions of Turkish culture, Kirkpinar is a living event, dedicated to the brave soldiers who died wrestling. How is the sponsor, "aga" chosen?
