Local football team, Thorne Rovers Under 16s, have dominated the West Riding County Cup competition, and soared into the final beating off stiff opposition from teams all over the West Yorkshire area. Manager Paul Carolan, is understandably proud of his team who play 'Farsley Celtic' in the Final on Thursday, 29th April at 7.30 pm. The `twist in the tale' happened 50 years ago when Moorends Amateurs won the Cup in 1954, the only other team from this area to do so. Paul told the Gazette, "We would like anyone who played or was involved with that team, to come forward and hopefully attend the game."
