L. Woodward) has supplied information regarding her and her family . Hereports
that her tombstone in Buckwheat Ridge Cemetary in Grant County, Wisconsin,
carries the inscription: "Born 1 April 1811, Died 30 June 1886." We knowfrom
had married a man named Costley. Mr. Woodward informs us that his namewas Pierson Costley, and that they were married in Crawford County, Missouri,in 1831. His parents were William and Margaret (Hunter) Costley who movedfrom Christian County, Kentucky, to Missouri, and then to Greene County,Illinois, in 1819. Peirson Costley died in 1850 in Missouri leaving Martha with avery large family. Word of his death was sent to her family in Wisconsin and a brother, probably Solomon, came for her and brought her and her childrento

Dates: [1885]-1942(Bulk 1900-1942) Abstract: The collection consists of 500 portraits of men made in New York City between 1900 and 1942. Dramatic lighting characterizes MacDonald's soft focus head-and-shoulder portraits, which are contact prints from glass negatives. Quantity: 29 linear feet, 25 boxes Identification: PR-039
Biographical Note
During his Albany years, MacDonald's work was shown in exhibitions in New York, the Midwest, and Paris, including regular appearances in the annual exhibitions of the Photographers Association of America, of which he was a member. By the end of his life, he had participated in more than forty exhibitions and salons in cities around the United States and in Canada, India, England, Ireland, Belgium, Holland, Germany and France. He was represented in exhibitions at the Louisiana Purchase Exposition (1904) and the Century of Progress Exposition (1933), and served as a juror for six American and international exhibitions between 1906 and 1938. The verso of the mount board of his photographs listed thirty-three medals and awards won for his work.

    The marriage of Adam Carrithers and Mary Cunnignham is recorded in Shelby County as Spence was not erected until 1824.
    They lived with James and Mary (Porter) Carrithers. In 1812 Adam purchased the farm from his parents, added the brick room on the south side with a stairway leading to the room above. This room has two casement windows and is one of the most attractive rooms in the House. The stairway has long ago been removed.
