Total records = 219. Location: West on County C off Highway 12 to Stone's Pocket Road. Cemetery is on southwest corner. The original cemetery was located on the northeast corner of Stone's Pocket Road and Highway C. Some graves may still be in the old location although there are no markers. There are current burials in this cemetery. The cemetery was originally copied by the Wisconsin Old Cemeteries Association in October, 1974. It was these records that I used to verify stones that had become unreadable or were not longer there. I surveyed and copied this cemetery on Jun 08, 2002.

This Catholic cemetery, in the Russellton area, appears to primarily serve a Polish/German community. It is said to have started, in part, due to the Flu of 1918, due to the number of dead. Two large homemade concrete crosses marking two different graves have deteriorated, and the engravings have been worn away by weather and time. Gravesites along the upper fence were considered "non-Catholic" and all the babies that were not baptised were buried there.
Many graves early on were hand dug, so placement was based in part on how many large rocks were encountered. Louie Baron, uncle of Ken Lewetag, was the first to dig graves with a backhoe and would often dig up a grave that was not where the marker was. The large cross, which historically sat higher in the cemetery, has fallen and been removed to the side. Repair/replacement efforts are underway.

I walked this cemetery in May of 2000, while on vacation in Brimley. Did not have tombstone rubbing equipment with me at the time. When I return in September - I will take with me if anyone is interested in any of the broken stones. There are also other areas that I could not get into with stones. Lots that were fenced and totally overgrown and I will need to take proper clothing to work on them.

Friday, June 04, 2004 Hamburg, Ashley County, Arkansas Home Local News Obituaries Sports/Outdoors ... Health Ashley County History Beech Creek Cemetery Updated April 10, 2002 The Beech Creek Cemetery is east of Hamburg south of Arkansas Highway 8. To reach the cemetery, go 10.9 miles east from the intersection of Highway 8 and U. S. 425 in Hamburg. Then turn right on Ashley Road 317. Travel south 1.0 miles and then turn right on an unnamed road. The Beech Creek Baptist Church is located .5 miles from that intersection, and the cemetery is .2 miles past the church where the unnamed road dead ends. The cemetery is located at N 33 09.306 and W 91 39.170. The Daughters of the American Revolution survey of the cemetery in February, 1966, by Mr. and Mrs. William T. Files and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Dean Miller showed approximately 120 tombstones in this cemetery. During the check in April, 2002, almost all of these markers were still present. The new survey includes a total of about 190 markers. In addition to the marked graves, depressions in the ground indicate many more unmarked graves. This section runs along the north side of Cemetery Road and forms the SE corner on the road. We called it section 3 and 3b... the cemetery doesn't. The plots in section 3 are mostly one person long and 4 wide... 3b platted at another date is mostly one person with few aisles. We read the rows south to north as most of the headstones faced west towards the center of the cemetery... the cemetery plots numbers run east and west. This is an extraction... we proofread to prevent errors but errors are still present. If you would like better documentation or have material that disagrees with this record contact me at: 3rd St. Books, 1615 3rd St. Marysville WA
