Eventually I would like to photograph and add all the tombstones in Forest Park Cemetery to the Virtual Cemetery. To actually see the tombstones, click on the following link and then search for the tombstones of interest. The best and easiest way to search the Virtual Cemetery is to only fill in the last name of interest or if it's a common last name include Camden NY under cemetery location. Poetry Rules!!!
(but, then we already knew that!)
Robert Oxnam, Director Emeritus of the Asia Society, has stated that among the notions which influence Chinese poetry there is the idea that "a poem is a place where one's deepest emotions are felt." Additionally, Chinese poetry is a commentary on life at the time the poet lived and a reflection of the poet's personality. Finally, poetry reveals the poet's "moral fiber" and allows the poet to live beyond his or her time. The poem below illustrates these things and also the interaction between Confucianism and Daoism. It also gives the reader a glimpse of the wonderful Chinese sense of humor. The second poem is Korean and very contemporary. Although the Koreans may not have been writing poetry quite as long as the Chinese, they have been at it for over 2000 years. The Korean poem below reflects three of the themes that recur again and again in Korean poetry, namely: love, time and change.
Here are some brief reflections of some pretty amazing people on the subject of poetry.

A New Canto (1819): supposed by Caroline Lamb
Caroline Lamb was born in 1785, the third child of four, and the only daughter of an Irish peer, Lord Duncannon, and his wife Henrietta, daughter of the first Earl Spencer. Her maternal aunt was the famous Georgiana, Duchess of Devonshire, at whose house she spent much of her childhood. She married William Lamb, the son of Lady Melbourne, when she was seventeen. They had one child, a son, who was probably what we would call autistic. At first the marriage was a loving one, but as Lamb grew more ambitious politically they grew apart. Childe Harold Ne Crede Byron Glenarvon (1816) was another weapon in her war against him. The poem below may be another. It sounds rather like any number of passages from Don Juan , which is similar in tone and style, is Yes; he will make it moral, but then first He roots out from within us all morality He murders all our virtues, and the worst Of faithless sins, with such great liberality Egyptian taskmasters
