SMITH, ERMIE
Thomas SMITH and Mary ERMIE (not sure of spelling) had at least two daughters. One was Julie SMITH b.1824, the other Nancy SMITH also b. 1824. Julie married Jordan SANDERS b. 1814. I am looking for information on Thomas and Mary. It is possible they may have been Cherokee/Catawba mixed descent. Any info. greatly appreciated and thanks in advance!

My KERSLAKE Connection
NOTE: The informant on John KERSLAKE's son, Edward Hooker KERSLAKE's 3 Apr 1942 death certificate was Edward's son-in-law, Howard Arthur BOND. Howard named Edward's mother as "Mary HOOKER" on the death certificate. This led this researcher to believe that John KERSLAKE had married a "Mary HOOKER" sometime before son Edward's birth, and that "Mary HOOKER" was not only son, Edward's, mother, but also the mother of son, Edward's, younger brother, Frederick "Fred" Robert KERSLAKE. As evidenced by the 1870 East Cleveland, Cuyahoga Co., OH, census of the household of John KERSLAKE, which also contained his wife Anne and all 8 children, it is now believed that Howard Arthur BOND was poss in error re the name of Edward's mother as "Mary HOOKER" and that all 8 of John KERSLAKE's children were born to John KERSLAKE and poss his "only" wife, Ann/Anne/Anna/Annie WHITNAL? - The true birth mother of Edward and Frederick is again uncertain?
NOTE: According to info provided to me by Tom KERSLAKE, when Fred KESLAKE (see #7 below) married his 2nd wife, Jennie L. (BREDENTHAL) KACKLEY on 9 May 1929 in Cuyahoga Co., OH, the county marriage records name Fred's father as John and his mother as "Mary" //not as Anna!// - Even further evidence that both Edward Hooker KERSLAKE's and Frederick "Fred" Robert KERSLAKE's mother was, indeed, "Mary HOOKER"
NOTE: Hiers of Ann KERSLAKE sold the real estate (lot Number 421 on Shaker Road containing 1 and 6/100 acres) to to Smith H. Rand in Apr 1889 for $825.00.

As published in The German Connection
Each of the following listings shows the direct ancestral lineage through the male line of one individual with a Germanic surname. Each direct line is of the format: Surname, [submitter number], (1) given name, (birth-death dates), place of birth, marriage, death or residence (as indicated by b,m,d, or res), surname of wife; (2) given name of father of (1), (birth-death dates), place of b, m, d, or res, surname of spouse; (3) given name of father of (2). . . etc. If the wife has a Germanic surname it may be followed as a separate direct line. An asterisk (*) indicates an immigrant. A question mark (?) indicates information not known. Surnames are not repeated within one direct line unless there is a spelling or name change. Submitters would like to correspond with those sharing their lines or those who would like more information.
