FILM DAGLASOVI ANGAZUJU
CIJELU FAMILIJU ZA NOVI FILM ledeci projekat kog ce se dotaci porodicno-filmski klan Daglasovih ce, ocigledno, angazovati sve raspolozive umetnicko-finansijske potencijale uze i sire familije. Brodijev otac Stiv (Steve Brodie) je ranije saradivao sa Majklovim ocem, takode glumcem, Kirkom Daglasom (Kirk Douglas), u filmu "Out of the Past".

Jean Eugene Robert-Houdin (1805-1871)
Aspiring teenaged magician Ehrich Weiss did not conjure the name "Harry Houdini" out of thin air. Following the hallowed tradition of his craft, the name pays homage to Jean Eugene Robert-Houdin, the French performer widely considered the father of modern magic. Adding the "i" followed tradition as well, as this was a common way that magicians invoked the name of the famous 18th century Italian conjurer Pinetti. "Harry," on the other hand, was merely a pleasantly American twist on "Ehrie," his boyhood nickname. But Houdini’s relationship with his famous predecessor was not as simple as their shared name suggests.
Perhaps inspired by the complex mechanical devices, or automata, demonstrated by Philippe and other conjurers, Robert-Houdin started building more than clocks. In 1844, a small android he had built for the Universal Exposition was purchased by American circus impresario P.T. Barnum for the handsome price of seven thousand francs. The timing was excellent, as it allowed Robert-Houdin time to finish the pieces he was building for a magical theater he would soon open in Paris. The public was enchanted by his elegantly appointed theater at the old Palais Royal, which featured numbers clearly inspired by Phillipe but with novel twists of their own. Even in this first endeavor, Robert-Houdin displayed a gift for presentation which would set him apart. In particular, his practice of appearing in normal evening attire, rather than elaborate robes, caught on and has led many to see him as the first "modern" magician.

Playing cards themselves originated in the Orient with China and India amongst the main contenders for the claim of country of origin and it's thought that cards may have been introduced to Europe in the 14th century by Arabs who had travelled from the Orient. Italy, Spain and France feature in the first literary mentions of playing cards and card magic. One of the earliest, general references to card tricks is an article from 1408 which tells of a card cheat in Paris who sought to gain advantage by manipulating the cards he was playing. The first, written mentions of actual performers of card tricks are:
    a) a 15th century piece of writing (apparently unpublished and co-authored by no less than Leonardo da Vinci) which describes a card trick performed by Giovanni de Jasone de Ferara;

    Blois, actual capital of the Loir-et-Cher was, was, after all, the centre of French Renaissance. Look at the prestigious chateau, where most important events of French history were plotted. Louis XII, king of France in 1498, was born here in1462.
    Let's start the visit of the chateau.
    The architecture of the chateau de Blois covers 4 centuries of tormented history of the town. A journey that starts in the 13th century, after the counts of Blois had given their freehold to the king of France, continuing with the royal grandeur of Renaissance art and the murderous hours of religion wars to end with much quieter times but much richer in conspiracies, of Gaston d’Orleans in the 17th century.
    The chateau is built on a slope in full centre town, and takes the form of a quadrilateral surrounding an honour courtyard. The exterior façade shows a medieval part, recognisable because of its pointed roof, it houses the salle des “Etats Generaux” (13th century) with 2 woodwork-covered naves. A more modern one, nicely build in stone and bricks built under Louis XII (1498) which equestrian statue stands in the main porch. Crossing the interior courtyard, go

    Jean Eugène Robert-Houdin December 6 French magician , born in Blois France , where he also died. The stage name of Harry Houdini was taken in tribute to him. Houdin was a watchmaker, and made mechanical toys and machines. From an early age he had been interested in juggling and sleight of hand , and in he began to exhibit his skill, and soon became famous for his tricks. The Arabs of Algeria were said to be excited to rebel against French colonialists by false miracles performed by their religious leaders. In , the French government sent Houdin there, hoping that he might perform tricks that were far more impressive, thereby dissolving the excitement of the rebels. Houdin's tricks, it is said, succeeded in breaking up the influence of the priests. Moreover, the Arabs became afraid of Houdin. In one trick, he allowed an Arab to shoot at him with a marked ball, but instead of killing him, the ball was found between his teeth. After that, they believed he could do anything.

    International Brotherhood of Magicians Ring 38
    San Francisco, CA April 1999
    Welcome: Our President, Dennis Fox called the April 1999 meeting to order.
    . Special Welcomes: The Territorial Vice President, Mr. Art Gagne, the International President Jack Browne, and past International President Ed Morris were in attendance Prestidigitation: Our current International President Jack Browne placed a card chosen by a spectator into a small frame that he keeps in his wallet. He then demonstrated the "Zig Zag" card effect by removing and restoring the card's center while both ends were clearly in sight. Special Lecture by Past International President Ed Morris: Member Ed Morris showed how he obtained news media coverage in cities that he visited throughout the world; how he did magic shows in remote native African and Asian villages; and how he personalized his close-up effects. Among the secrets he shared was recommending to the audience that they always consider performing at charity shows because the exposure and publicity often lead to high paying bookings. The Indian Rope Trick shown at "Gili Gili 97": Member Ed Morris also showed actual photographs and a video of the performance of the Indian Rope Trick that was witnessed by 25,000 people (himself included) at "Gili Gili 97". He also answered questions about his February 1998 "Linking Ring" article which described the Indian Rope Trick in addition to the first ever competition of Indian Street Magicians.
