" (from The Surprising Adventures of Baron Muchausen Raspe's carefree life-style led him into troubles. Advertisements were issued for the arrest of the Councillor Raspe, and in 1775 he fled first to Holland and then to England - he was found to have been selling the precious gems and medals in his care to pay his debts. In 1776 he published a book on German Volcanoes. His 'Essay on the Origin of Oil Painting' was published through the help of Horace Walpole in 1781.

Sir Walter Raleigh And now I see the face of god, and I raise this god over the earth, this god whom men have sought since men came into being, this god who will grant them joy and peace and pride. This god, this one word: "I." Ayn Rand, Anthem The purpose of the law is not to prevent a future offense, but to punish the one actually committed. Ayn Rand, letter to John Hospers (April 29, 1961) People think that a liar gains a victory over his victim. What I've learned is that a lie is an act of self-abdication, because one surrender's one's reality to the person to whom one lies, making that person one's master, condemning oneself from then on to faking the sort of reality that person's view requires to be faked. And if one gains the immediate purpose of the liethe price one pays is the destruction of that which the gain was intended to serve. The man who lies to the world, is the world's slave from then on. 20.
http://centros5.pntic.mec.es/ies.victoria.kent/Rincon-C/cyl/cb/cb.htm
