vanish hence, like mine, And leave no trace behind, Save ruins o er the region WilliamMorley Punshon. W. (William) Winwood Reade , The Martyrdom of Man (1872).
http://www.allthingswilliam.com/humanity.html
Humanity
To me, it seems that mankind can never achieve its highest potentialities till it has thrown off the incubus of historic (and prehistoric) religion . . .
William Archer Is the Battle, Won? Religion, in contrast to science, deploys the repugnant view that the world is too big for our understanding. Science, in contrast to religion, opens up the great questions of being to rational discussion, to discussion with the prospect of resolution and elucidation. Science, above all, respects the power of the human intellect. Science is the apotheosis of the intellect and the consummation of the Renaissance. Science respects more deeply the potential of humanity than religion ever can.
Peter William (P.W.) Atkins The tragedy of life and of the world is not that men do not know God; the tragedy is that, knowing Him, they still insist on going their own way.
William Barclay The Revelation of John , Volume II (1961). I am absolutely convinced of the fact that those who once lived on earth can and do communicate with us. It is hardly possible to convey to the inexperienced an adequate idea of the strength and cumulative force of the evidence.
Sir William Barrett, FRS

Below is a list of vampire short stories from anthologies, magazines and zines. Keep in mind, it is not in any way complete, and will be constantly added to. Also, not all of the stories have your average bllod sucking vampire in them. Some might involve vampire bats, energy vampires, emotional vampires etc...
As I would like to make this list more up to date, please send me any short stories that you know of that are not included on this list. I would very much appreciate it. A - B - C - E - ... Z -

THE SOURCE OF OUR STRENGTH
I ask for daily bread, but not for wealth, lest I forget the poor.
I ask for strength, but not for power, lest I despise the meek.
I ask for wisdom, but not for learning, lest I scorn the simple. I ask for a clean name, but not for fame, lest I contemn the lowly. I ask for peace of mind, but not for idle hours, lest I fail to hearken to the call of duty. Inazo Nitobe, 1909 Our strength or help is only in God; but then it is near us, it is in us - a force superior to all possible opposition - a force that never was, nor can be foiled. We are free to stand in this unconquerable ability, and defeat the powers of darkness; or to turn from it, and be foiled and overcome. When we stand, we know it is God alone upholds us; and when we fall, we feel that our fall or destruction is of ourselves. Journal of job Scott, 1751-1793

HABITS AND MODES OF LIVING OF THE PIONEERS AND FIRST SETTLERS THE civil history properly dates from the 23d of January, 1827, which was the period when the act of the legislature creating the county was approved by the Governor, and went into effect. Previous to the meeting of the legislature the people had c onsidered favorably the organization of a new county, and appointed a committee to attend the Meeting of the legislature at Vandalia, the state capital, and procure the passage of an act creating the new county. The committee, it is needless to say, succ eeded in their mission. "An Act creating Shelby County:" Sec. 1.
