WELCOME!
About Project Gutenberg Thank you for your interest in Project Gutenberg! Project Gutenberg is the Internet's oldest producer of FREE electronic books (eBooks or eTexts). What books will I find
in Project Gutenberg?
Project Gutenberg is the brainchild of Michael Hart , who in 1971 decided that it would be a really good idea if lots of famous and important texts were freely available to everyone in the world. Since then, he has been joined by hundreds of volunteers who share his vision.
Now, more than thirty years later, Project Gutenberg has the following figures (as of November 8th 2002): 203 New eBooks released during October 2002, 1975 New eBooks produced in 2002 (they were 1240 in 2001) for a total of 6267 Total Project Gutenberg eBooks. 119 eBooks have been posted so far by Project Gutenberg of Australia Click here for the full PG story and here for the latest News , and learn about the Stockholm Challenge Award recently won by Project Gutenberg in the category "Culture".

Summary
While visiting an old friend, Philip de Sucy sees a woman who brings back memories of a terrible experience in Siberia many years ago during the Napoleonic wars. It is the same woman, but seemingly totally insane now. Her uncle has despaired of recalling her mind and is willing to let de Sucy make an attempt. How to Find a Project Gutenberg EBook
For eBooks numbered 1 through 10000, Project Gutenberg eBooks are organized according to their "production years," which pre-date actual years, and with somewhat cryptic filenames. These are in the "1990" through "2006" directories, under Get File Listings , below. Starting with eBook #10001 in November 2003, eBooks are filed according to their unique 5-digit eBook number (starting at ). There is a detailed explanation of the file and directory scheme in GUTINDEX.ALL There are several different ways to find eBooks. Because these different methods have different features, and not are updated at the same time, we recommend you use more than one method if you can't find an eBook you think should be here.
