Update: I recently upgraded to a 40GB hard drive. Specifically, I got the IBM 40GB . The bios reacted fine, no hard drive problems to speak of. And the hard drive is pretty quiet. After I got it I started noticing the "latent" noise of the laptop. To save you some trouble when upgrading hard drives, I suggest you look into getting a copy of Norton Ghost. I tried Powerquest Partion Magic, and Powerquest DriveImage. End result: A great deal pain and frustration, nothing worked. Tech support from Powerquest was of no help to me either.

Less than an hour's drive west of Port Elizabeth lies - at the mouth of the Kromme River - the pretty holiday village of St. Francis Bay. The architecture of the place is one of its kind in South Africa with all the houses having thatch roofs - except for the part at the harbour which is built in a mediterranean stile.
St. Francis Bay is a paradise for watersports enthusiasts: It boasts white sandy beaches and ideal conditions for surfing. In season - August to October - whales can be seen in the bay of St. Francis. Many holiday homes were built at the numerous canals from where one can get to the Kromme River by boat. The harbour is the centre for calamari fishing and a popular starting point for deep sea fishing trips.

Following the last minute pull out of Nicolai Popov, Audley Harrison will now take on Julius Francis, whom he faces Saturday night in Bristol on May 8th.
Though Francis is unlikely to carry much ambition into the fight at this late stage, he has the professional pride that comes with being a veteran fighter who has fought for and won a British title, and who has shared the ring with Tyson, albeit briefly.

Interestingly, Julius Francis weighed in at 256 this time around, a few pounds lighter than last time out, so appears to have worked himself into decent shape. There was also some banter during the weigh which approximated to pre-fight needling. Who knows, perhaps Francis is keen to get his hands on the WBF belt and make a couple of soft defences, not a bad gravy train for an aging British heavyweight.
The fight is scheduled over 10 rounds, and this could be the first time Audley is extended the full distance, which would in some sense be no bad thing, as Audley needs rounds to fully develop a style which relies on ring smarts and movement more than crunching power. However, there may be some who will question his world class potential if he fails to stop Francis, but it depends whether Audley sees the fight as a workout to gain experience, or a showcase to make a statement.

My mother really meant well. She did. She knew I was going to take Photography I this summer and got me a Canon AE-1 camera from a local pawn shop. It looked good to go, as we say in the Army.
Until I tried to load the film and advance it. No Go. Nada. Nothing doing. The lever wouldn't advance, no matter what variation I tried.
I researched the problem on the net and learned I was working the controls properly.
Then I went to Ben's Camera Shop and he told me that it was broke, would need $65.00 to fix it.
Sigh. I asked how much a replacement would be, got a price and decided that the damned thing was going get stuck up some Pawn Shop pukes' ass.
Till I read the sales receipt which says more or less, "Buyer Beware." This pawn shop, by the way, is Lucky Pawn Shop on the corner of Vivion Road and Brighton for any Kansas City readers out there.
So, I'll get the camera fixed. It is in good shape otherwise.

Time for bed
But I got the basic stuff working, there are many more test cases to write, but I think I pretty well understand how to do everything and I'm fully engaged in it. I should be able to wrap this up tomorrow. I'm also really doing it the right way and handling all of the cases to make it generally useful, so I will not have to go back and clean it up later. On another note, my disk was making a funny noise as it was being accessed and then it was reporting that it was nearing capacity. So I deleted a bunch of temp files, then the access noise returned to normal. Even though I have an automatic backup to a zip drive every morning at 4, I'm gonna get a new disk tomorrow and set up an automatic backup to that as well. Losing the contents of the hard disk, even if there is a backup, will consume a great deal of time. But it's interesting that the noise of the disk changes based on the capacity of the disk. 51. Was St. Francis A Misanthrope?
Francis died. for putting human utility and convenience ahead of the moral obligationsof human beings to other living things was Pretty much complete.
http://www.imma.org/misanthrope.html
Was St. Francis a Misanthrope? Presentation to the congregation of St. James the Apostle Church, Guelph Ontario 18 October, 1998 In gratitude for the honour of their conferring the Feast of St. Francis Award by Peter Meisenheimer International Marine Mammal Association I would like to begin by expressing my gratitude to the congregation of St. James the Apostle and to Canon Lebans for the honour of this award. As a biologist, it is my job to study the lives of animals and to explain their workings to others, and it has been my good fortune to have been able to pursue my career in ways that promote the welfare of wild creatures and the places in which they live. I love my work, and I suppose I feel a little bit sheepish accepting your thanks for something I have enjoyed doing so much. I must also acknowledge that none of the things on which I have worked would have been possible without the support of many people who have contributed their time, their money and their emotion to doing what they believed was right. When I was told that some sort of talk was expected of the St. Francis Award recipient, I was unsure of what to say. In my line of work I am usually called on to deliver a dry and dusty academic dissertation with tables and pie-charts, or a fire-breathing polemic on why it is imperative that something or other be promoted or opposed. Neither seemed very appropriate for this sort of occasion.

April 28, 2004 I'll Be Back Next Week! Stay Pretty! April 21, 2004

Now that spring is here, I'm dying for a tan but the thought of applying self-tanner is daunting. I'm worried about streaking and turning my skin orange. I definitely don't want to go out in the sun (wrinkle and cancer paranoia). What do I do?
Monika Dear Monika,
It's so funny that you ask about this just now, because we just discovered the most amazing system. It's a self-tanner that is applied with an airbrush. Don't start having thoughts right now about those scary booths that you go into where a computer talks to you and tells you to contort yourself every way possible. This is an actual airbrush gun that is used to spray an even and realistic tan to your entire body. It's controlled manually by a real-life human being who can monitor for streaking and evenness of application, and it's completely up to you just how dark you want to get; anywhere from "sunkissed glow" to "three weeks in bali". Now, some shameless self-promotion: funnily enough, we happen to have just bought this very system for the store. SO ... Call for an appointment!

55. Academy Of Achievement: Francis S. Collins, M.D. Interview -- Page 8 / 9
Francis S. Collins, MD Interview continued. And I think we already know thatin some generalities, but we ll know that in detail Pretty soon.
http://www.achievement.org/autodoc/page/col1int-8

Francis S. Collins, M.D. Interview continued What challenges do you see for America in the 21st century? It's hard for me to look more than 5 or 10 years into the future. When I think about what I knew 20 years ago, I would not have been able to predict what's going on now. I think we need to live up to our responsibility as the leaders of the free world. I think we need to look at the ways that we are treating our own people and root out some of the inequities that we turn our heads always from. Inequities that relate to prejudice. We are always figuring out ways to think that somebody else is lesser and we are greater.
As a geneticist, I look forward to the time when we can say because we'll have all the data that race doesn't really exist. video audio It may be a social construct, it may be a cultural construct, but it sure ain't a scientific construct. And I think we already know that in some generalities, but we'll know that in detail pretty soon. And that will be good, because I think that is a chronic sore on our culture that we are unwilling to cope with. And for the 21st century, if we could focus on that as our highest priority, that would be wonderful. There are many other inequities, for me as a physician. A situation where we allow 40 million people to go without any form of health care is appalling. We, of all the countries in the civilized world, have the least sense of equity in the way we distribute those resources. It's an embarrassment, yet we go on year after year accepting this, and crowing about how wonderful our medical system is. It is if you've got money, but it sure isn't if you don't. That does not reflect well on us as a country that prizes justice. I don't think access to health care is a privilege, I think it's a right. We have not offered those rights to everybody equitably.

DR. FRANCIS COLLINS: I guess I'd call myself a serious Christian. That is someone who believes in the reality of Christ's death and resurrection, and who tries to integrate that into daily life and not just relegate it to something you talk about on Sunday morning.
ABERNETHY: As briefly as you can summarize it, what is the Human Genome Project?
COLLINS: The Human Genome Project is a multifaceted effort to understand our own instruction book, to read those 3 billion letters in the DNA code that makes up that book, and to develop methods that help us understand what it's telling us.
ABERNETHY: And what's the promise of it?
