    Quincy Cemetery District Database
Located on a hill between Quincy and East Quincy, lies the Quincy Cemetery. This database was assembled from cemetery notes, not by inspection of the markers. Note that the Reference Number (Ref) is the approximate chronological order in which remains were placed in the cemetery. The date of death (DOD) and location (Lot No) are indicated. You may find some miscellaneous information (fraternal affiliation, if cremated) on some of the records. Nearby is the Meadow Valley Cemetery . I have also prepared a database for it. Click on the letter of the surname of interest and you will be taken to that section of the database.

    MICHIGAN
MICHIGAN Fauna and Flora.Michigan, especially the north portion, still abounds in game. The mammals include black bear, deer, lynx, porcupine, fox, squirrels, hares, rabbits, musk rats, minks, weasels, skunks and woodchucks. Among the game birds are quails ( Bob White ), partridges (ruffed grouse), ducks, geese, woodcocks, snipes and plovers. Of song birds the favorites are the robin, thrushes, bobolink, oriole, chickadee, meadow-lark, cat-bird! bluebird, wrens and warblers. Among fishes, white fish, lake trout, perch, herring, sun-fish, bass, sturgeon, pickerel, suckers, German carp and fresh-water drum abound in the lakes. The speckled trout thrives in many of the streams. ~-~i Under the revised constitution of 1908 the legislature is authorized to provide for the reforestation of state lands. Soil. The soil of south-west and south-east Michigan is for the most part a dark clay loam or muck; in the north central part of the lower peninsula it is a light sandy loam, along the Huron shore it is heavy with blue clay, in the mining districts of the north-west the rocks are usually either barren or very thinly covered; and elsewhere in the state the soil is generally rich in a variety of mineral elements, and varies chiefly in the proportions of vegetable loam, sand or gravel, and clay. Michigan produces the bulk of the peppermint crop of the United States, and it is in the front rank as a fruit-producing state.

471 - HISTORY OF SENECA COUNTY TIFFIN CITY Tiffin is situate on Sections 18, 19, 20, 29 and 30, Town 2 north, Range 15 east, Clinton Township and Section 24, Hopewell Township, in latitude north 41° 7' and longitude west from Washington 6° 8'. The Sandusky River flows through the city in a general northeastern course, coursing almost due east ftom Washington Street bridge to the railroad bridges, and dividing the city at this point into the North and South sides. Washington Street, running north and south, divides the city into the East and West sides. Rock Creek flows northwest in a tortuous course through the northeastern parts of the city, and enters the river east of Washington Street bride. The white population 472 - HISTORY OF SENECA COUNTY in 1817 was 3; in 1822, 30; in 1830, 600; increased to 7,879 in 1880, and to about 10, 000 in 1885. The distinctive features of the city are its magnificent location, looking over the Sandusky, its natural terraces, variety of landscape and wildwood drives, all retained, by some magic power, amid the ruin of old time forests, and change in everything. It was not until the land was opened up for entry, or purchased, that immigration became active, or the country began to fill up. Then the necessity of established villages became obvious. Notwithstanding the advantages of locality and accessibility, the cast bank of the river was not thought of as the site of a city for almost four years after the first settlers came in, and for two years after the first village was platted on the west bank of the Sandusky at this point. Josiah Hodges first realized the importance of the spot, and decided to establish himself east of what even then was considered the frontier-the Sandusky River. Others carne, and all decided to carve for themselves a home in the beautiful wilderness, and fashion out a city among the trees, that should one day be regarded as the goal to which enterprising men would direct their footsteps, where scholars would find a home, and religion 10,000 followers.

    Old Wheelersburg Cemetery
Porter Township, Scioto County OH Old Wheelersburg Cemetery is located on the hill between old U.S. Route 52 and Shela Blvd., Porter Township, Scioto Co., Ohio. The cemetery covers 23 acres in the NW quarter of Section 15-2-20. The township pioneers and others previously buried on the banks of the Little Scioto River were moved here in 1917. On April 23, 1968, a tornado overturned and destroyed many of the tombstones in Wheelersburg Cemetery. Many of the stones remain broken or toppled, although care of the cemetery has generally been good. Caryn R. and Duane Shomaker previously recorded inscriptions in this cemetery up to 1980. Feeling the need for a camplete revision and update, Virgil and Marguerite Ramsey recorded the entire cemetery, starting in September 1987 and ending in November. see stone shared by Gail Justice
