http://www.geographyhigh.connectfree.co.uk/familyhistmurdoch.html
Record of the Murdoch Family The Murdoch Family are believed to have been originally of highland descent and probably a branch of one of the clans. If so it would appear that they must have come to Ayrshire at a very early period as the name was very common in several of the South Ayrshire Parishes. 1. According to a hand written handed down diary, the first there is any certainty about was a William Murdoch, who is said to have come from Ochiltree to Ayr. He was a master mason and was made a Burgess in 1744. What family he had is uncertain but he had at least one son David (2) who lived at Hollybush, probably at what used to be Mains of Hollybush. 2. David, a cust weaver was born 1723 at Old Byre, Dalrymple. He was twice married and had five sons.

    2003 Mason-Dixon Preview
Note: Mary Washington, Gallaudet, and Frostburg have opted out of the Mason-Dixon Cross Country Conference Meet. The Preview reflects this fact. The Mason-Dixon Conference meet will be a fatal four-way this year between Salisbury, Christopher Newport, Catholic and Methodist. On the men’s side Salisbury edge Christopher Newport by one place and less than half a second for their second Mason-Dixon team title. One the women’s Mary Washington dominated the meet, but this year Christopher Newport is the top team coming in with MWC opting out, but don’t count out Salisbury nor Catholic who return a majority of their squad. The men’s race looks to be a duel between Salisbury and Christopher Newport while the women’s race will be wide open between Salisbury, Christopher Newport and Catholic. 2003 Mason-Dixon Men's Team Salisbury – Salisbury Shocked CNU last year with strong upfront running to claim their second Mason title. Salisbury returns the top 4 returnees in Steve Jacobs, Will Detwiler, Will Murdoch and Brad Ellis from the previous year’s meet. Salisbury also return 6 of their top 7 losing Andy Marrocco who will serve as an assistant coach. CNU –Christopher Newport’s worst team race came at the worst time. They are looking to rectify it this year. Leading Christopher Newport will be the trio of National qualifier Jimmy Highsmith, David Baer and Jason Berry. CNU also gains the services of Footlocker South Senior race champion Brandon Miles as well as Virginia All-State runner Cary Chaffee.
