Raymond Chandler
It seems, there is a common thread when thinking about fear of creating, or having a creative block. Do you see it?
Good morning. Hi to Helen even though you are travelling. Good morning to faithful regulars. Welcome all new visitors.
What's on your mind today? Mag Good morning Christine!
The day is rainy here and I think it'll take more than one cupppa today.....
Yes I think we all overthink things. I have started taking my sketchbook
places and although I'm not overly happy with the drawings I just have to stop focussing on the results. Planning on putting a light up in my basement today but besides that not a lot creative on the burner today.
Mag JoyJoyJoy It seems, there is a common thread when thinking about fear of creating, or having a creative block. Do you see it?
Good morning and afternoon, evryone,
Christine... thank you for the quote. It is exactly where I am this morning. ''The more you reason the less you create.'' - Raymond Chandler

22. WetCanvas! - Artist's Way, Week Two
Orison Swett Marden (18481924), Editor, Success Magazine Is there any penalty for being twice as slow? D Well, no, since you ask!

WetCanvas! The Think Tank Creativity The Book Club View Thread : Artist's Way, Week Two Rose Queen This week's lesson was "going sane," by identifying crazymakers in our lives and starting to figure out how to keep them from stalling us in our creative recovery. It's just as much, too, about learning to keep our own skepticism about our artistic worthiness from derailing us. Julia Cameron also spends a good deal of time in this chapter on how how important it is to learn to pay attention to the world around us, to be in this moment, where we are safe, because it's a powerful tool for unblocking ourselves.
As you work through Chapter three this week, dip back into the Rules of the Road (page 55) now and then to keep yourself on track. Precious Mazie
My artist date this week was with my husband. I know that your suppose to go alone, but I am glad I let him come along. We walked through an art museum, spent hours in an old bookstore, and ate really good German food at a new German bar and restaurant. A lot of time my MP's vent against him. Really for minor things but we also have some wonderful times together. Some one said last week that it is hard to find good things when your in the middle of being mad (paraphrased) I am so glad that the good things came through too. (Good old Walter!) Rose Queen Mazie, you don't have to apologize to us for not making chat; we're just there if you're able to join in!

Timeline of Positive New Thought and Positive Thinking Authors
Belief in the human spirit, in oneself and in the process of life are the basic tenets of New Thought and Positive Thinking literature. The basic theory is that the stories we tell ourselves determine how our lives will go.
Authors are listed in the order of their first book's earliest known date of publication. Many titles are linked to Amazon.com. Click on the title to read more detailed descriptions. You can also look up the authors at Mlvyl, the University of California library database: click here for Mlvyl . The timeline is still under construction - there are about a hundred more authors listed at the bottom of the page, i plan to add to the timeline. Bookmark this page and come back soon.

Here's a Positive Thought
American mystic Vernon Howard (1918 - 1992) taught us that pictures communicate large amounts of data to the mind. He gave us Psycho-Pictography: The New Way to Use the Miracle Power of Your Mind (1965). The book offers dozens of healing pictures. Following is an example of a healing psycho-pictograph. Contemplate this story whenever you're afraid of a person who abuses power.
"Suppose you see a tiger in a zoo. Now, you know very well that this tiger is a cruel and vicious animal. He would destroy you if he could. You understand his ferocity, yet you are unafraid of him; his cruelty does not alarm you. Why are you fearless? Because you know he is powerless to harm you. The bars protect you. By Kellie Branson
The Community Building Committee has been working behind the scenes to bring you the 3rd Annual Selland College Christmas Potluck. The food is always fabulous and the event is more fun every year. The event will be held from 11:30 - 1:30 on Friday December 14th in the Automotive Lab in AT118. Back by popular demand will be a decorating contest! Last year we had an awesome tree-decorating contest. This year will be even more fun...we are planning a most creative wreath contest. Start thinking now... more details to come via e-mails and flyers! We also have selected a student family to help. A single mom with 5 children - a girl age 15 and 4 boys ages 14, 13, 12, 8. This mother faces special challenges because her 12-year-old boy is disabled. Later this week you will receive e-mail with a list of gift ideas for the children and the mom. When you receive the list please respond as soon as possible if there is a wish you could provide. Start thinking about a dish to bring and watch for flyers in the mailroom and more e-mail to come!
