Grand rabbin Maurice Liber :
19 mai 2002

INSTITUTIONALIZING DURKHEIMIAN SOCIOLOGY OF RELIGION:

Introduction Trends Elective Affinities ... Works Cited Introduction Emile Durkheim’s sociology of religion has had a great influence on religious studies.   This is partly because of the innovative approach to religion he championed throughout his career, culminating in The Elementary Forms of Religious Life (1912).   Though it changed significantly over the course of Durkheim’s intellectual development and received modifications as subsequent sociologists of religion appropriated it, the core of the Durkheimian approach to religion can be characterized by one methodological and three substantive claims. The methodological claim is that a sociological approach provides an adequate scientific explanation of religion.   The substantive claims, which Durkheimians insisted followed from the application of sociological method, are (1) that religion has social origins— it arises from social interaction; (2) that religion has a social

Some Comments on Bonatti's Liber Astronomiae Part III
Published by Project Hindsight Latin Track Vol. XI. In this article I shall concentrate only on those sections of the book dealing with horary rules, with comments on the orbs of the planets and minor aspects. Introduction p.ii. Aspects, Applications and Separations with Special Reference to the Verb Iungo Before deciding that two planets are in minor aspect wouldn't it be wiser for astrologers to check first whether they are: 1. In parallels of declination. 2. In each others' antiscia. 3. Involved in a translation of light. 4. Involved in a collection of light. Most astrologers mistakenly ignore or do not use parallels of declination, and as for antiscia, translation and collection of light, only those with some experience of horary or what has become known as traditional astrology, will have heard of them. Yet, at first sight what appears to be a minor aspect in operation may in fact be attributable to one of these four techniques. The overlapping of major and minor aspects does appear to be due to the fact that "the aspect orbs would overlap, causing many angular separations to be assignable to two different aspects, and making it very unlikely that 2 planets would not be in some kind of aspectual relation."
